We have defoliated our cotton, hopefully we don't need a second application. Theoretically we should be picking in a couple of weeks

Due to the heat & dry, we had some of the early bolls start cracking a couple of weeks ago & I was worried about them. Thankfully, they seem to be opening up well & " fluffing " up. The Picker can't pick the cotton if the bolls aren't all open & fluffed up like balls of cotton wool

Cattle seem to be scared of rain, the sissies have left the shelter of their treeline to huddle in the far corner with their butts pointed into the weather

Bit of growth has happened in here, apart from a couple of patches where the pigeons refuelled, sun out again in the time it took to type this out and upload pictures:confused:

A few leftover peas, and some kale :sneaky:
20kg field peas
30kg white oats
30kg forage triticale "wintermax"
1kg plantain "Tonic"
1kg kale "SF Fuel"
1kg leafy turnip "SF Pacer" (y)

Like SeedForce varieties a lot :)

Sprayed out pasture with salt, tickled the top inch with a rotospike  to bust up the thatch, airseeded on Jan 16th, rolled, sat for 6 weeks waiting for rain :banghead::banghead::cry:

And you’ll strip/cell graze that or just turn them in on it?

Likely just run them on/off/on for fertility transfer.
The aim is to keep skimming the top off it right thru winter with sheep until the brassicas are gone, then take the triticale as silage if it isnt needed for cattle turnout tucker.... could be a long wet winter going by reports from the north :(

Been a lot of this going on around here the last week/10 days! Wind had picked up today and the town where we’re based has a blanket of dust on it.

Can’t for the life of me figure out why they’re doing it. We haven’t had rain for nearly 100 days, there’s none forecast for the foreseeable future, it’s high 20’s going up to 36 again at the weekend and seeding is a good 6 weeks away at best. They must be losing 1000’s of tons of top soil! Perhaps its frustration at the lack of rain? Boredom?

Who needs top soil aye?!

Maybe they just read the date wrong and thought it's 1820?
Ye Olde Methodes :hilarious:

Makes no sense, although in drought conditions (sorry) there is always that burning desire to do something to fix the problem.

Often the best thing to do is go on holiday, and that way the burning of fuels achieves a positive, instead of whatever that turkey gizzard is up to (n)(n)
