Well, I’m delighted to announce that South Australia has booted out the Labor party and Jay Whetherall! Let’s see if a Liberal state government can make less of a balls up of it.

Sorry, not overly relevant to many of you, but the Aussies might be interested.
Good job (y) I don't think anyone could be worse for the job to be fair

Day sorting cattle today @holwellcourtfarm
17 littler bulls to mart along with 22 smaller steers, averaging about 450kg on the hoof.
Remaining bulls (pictured) averaging 535kg and the steers about the same.
Loving this nice sweet tucker, too, will hoozle them out onto grass soon and let the Angii have a chomp (y) they are sitting down after a couple of hours eating :hungry:
Had a taste of the cereal and it is very sweet juicy food indeed.
Good decision after all.

You've gotta love it when a plan comes together (y)

Perhaps this dry season has actual worked for you. You may well have the best fleshed cattle around this time despite running low costs.

The holy grail of livestock production

As always the value chain is the issue regards returns, the cost for ten weeks wintering will be about 5.5% of their sale price, as will the saleyards commission, and the transport cost

Anyway, should still be a margin in them that will pay all the bills, and the margins on the remaining 60 odd will be all profit :) Best in each mob is over 580kg now, bit of a tough season with a check, but such is life

You'll know what I mean then :(

If not yet then soon :confused:

I can honestly say, at 52 im probably fitter & physically more resilient than ive ever been.
in my 20's & 30's I had a lot of back trouble & pain. I used to frequently twist or sprain ankles. One knee was weak used to often just give way with no warning. I Often did 100 hr weeks just operating machinery. I was very unfit.

My ankles & knee are now much stronger ( although I get the occasional twinge & I am very conscious of making sure I give my ITBs a good stretch, I cant remember the last time my knee just gave way on me ). I very rarely have any serious back pain. I am much fitter. Even my tolerance to alcohol is better ( although maybe I'm just a bit smarter in my consumption now ? ). I am constantly surprised at the poor physical / health condition of people my age or younger. At this rate, I see myself getting fitter & stronger as I get older. :). Theoretically, speed is the only thing you are guaranteed to lose as you age - apparently . . .

The ONLY 2 negatives I can see to being over 50 now is I am am not as forgiving with missing sleep ( gone are the days of partying till 2.00am then starting work at 6.00am ) & my short distance eyesight is rapidly diminishing.

NO drugs / pills / medication / doctors. Havent been to a GP in years. Just a reasonable diet & balanced exercise.

Physically, I actually look forward to a challenge & pushing myself. Just wish I felt like this at 32 :)
