Our steelies come out looking like that too. Same vintage or older. I've pulled out a few gal ones that were only put in in last 5 years and they almost look worse. Only like to use the tar ones nowPulling up some old fences
These posts have been in the ground since the late 50's - early 60's.
Even with it being so dry, there was still moist soil on the posts as I pulled them out, so you can't say it's "our dry environment" that's the reason they last so long
Steel post every 5 paces, wooden ones every 20 paces
We don't build them like that anymore, rarely use wooden posts, they too heavy & tend to pull fences over. Generally steelies every 6 m & high tensile wire
