don't think they'll drop that far...but £70 would be hard to stomach IMO....if the stories are true about losses there'll be some restocking to do
TBH i want to be selling outfits now but my 77 yr old 'boss'....actually trading partner (mum :D:D)....will have none of it:banghead::banghead:
It has been a sh!t year - and the weather is getting more unreliable. Your partner has a good basis for the decision - don't sell the survivors, they have the most resilience. These are genetics that you need - if forced - sell the worst looking looking ones not the best. You need the good stock for next year.
She may be annoying but there is probably some wisdom in this.

When do we start seeing the good stuff???

Like hoggs at £6/kg dead?
Hoggs at £10/kg would be better
Obviously £10/kg would be better, but let's get used to walking before we run:unsure:
Yesterday was the first time I've sold anything above £3/kg live, it's just whether current sheep prices can last. Talk (and that's all it is) in the market was that it will remain good for the foreseeable future but who knows - nobody saw it coming so who can say what will happen?

I was thinking about this today while walking around, heavy coat on, miserable skys, and a bottle of warm colostrum in my pocket with a tube. . . . . .

That this year has so far, probably been the most miserable of my life! Maybe I've been lucky in the past, but tomorrow we will have been lambing flat out for 60 days. Its been utter horse sh!t so far. From peeling frozen lambs off the floor, to trying to evacuate drowning lambs from flooded fields. Ewes losing condition, ewes randomly dropping dead. Older lambs getting pneumonia and keeling over.

I hope to hell next year is better!

I wonder what effect it will have on the industry as a whole, how many folk will jack it in.
i;ve lambed outside for the last 20 years and this has been the worst ever, ewes have stood it but lost more lambs than ever before,at one point i had 2 week old lambs that had never been dry,but we will carry on remember jesus loves a trier

In rutland at the moment is better than expected from the forecast last night, think we will miss the worst but 20miles east it’s different.
