its the same with any cultivation tool used in the wrong conditions/timing ...not good for the soil i agree.In the right soil they are ok but they do smear the bottom and fine particles can wash down and make the problem worse. In the wrong soil type or if it is wet it will make lovely porridge. A power harrow wont smear as mush.
Not too keen on ploughing but as I build sub-soilers I would say that.

Ive a 3 metre one but the spike have been worn down to a few inch now still does a very good job thoI may have this for sale. Sold it on one of the Facebook groups last week. Guy was meant to be coming for it at the weekend but hasn’t. See what tomorrow brings.
