Plenty of cheer at highland show

That's us just back from the show, a great but expensive day, 100£ spent before your in the gate, but a great day out it is, bone dry car parks, great cattle and sheep on show, and machinery getn bigger and more expensive buy the year, so there maybe changes in years to come , but it's bigger and better than ever!!. Beef rolls at 7£ a go.but massive Ques waiting for them, l don't think there will be a better show in the country, but they could have more for younger kids and the entry money is getn crazy.

I agree, great show. Kids getting in for nowt is a great encouragement. Gate price for an adult is getting serious though. Food prices are sore as well but i think every show in the country is the same.
Weather makes the show.

£100  for a day at a show, whats the entrance fee? Do they charge parking on top?

I was there on Thur & Fri, which I enjoyed very much, we will probably go in for a while tomorrow again too. I didn't go today as it's usually too busy on a Saturday.

Yes, it's £29 per day to get in, and yes it's £6+ for a burger, but you can stay there all day and there is plenty to see.
As was pointed out to me by my good lady, a lot of tickets for a concert or a football match will cost that or more and you only get a few hours entertainment.

Yes, a great day out, wish l had got a life membership 25 years ago, yes l don't know how buys those machines, but you could say thay for the last 10 year's. It's still good to see the machines, you could buy a farm or two with the money it costs to buy some tractors and combines there. But who care. I would be back tomorrow if l had a badge .but going to cut silage instead with my 10year old tractor and mower. Haha.

It's a great day out, worth every penny .

This year genuinely had a feelgood vibe which I would put down to the decent weather as much as anything.
My friends told me that Thursday wasn't as busy as Friday, which is when I was there. ( Supposed to have done Thursday as well but a calving heifer put paid to that.)

Friday was all about icecreams, sunblock and smiling faces. People everywhere and the bars packed from midday on.

Thank the Lord for the Simmental bar, tucked away in a corner of tranquility away from the hubbub. Standing out with a drink in the last of the evening sun with the best of company. My fellow forum members, you know who you are. ;)

They're a terribly bad influence. ;);)

Good to see such positivity about the show. Normally threads with people moaning about it. We went on Thursday and despite taking 4 hours and it normally taking 2.5hrs to get there had a great day.

Gutted I missed the tff highland show meet. Sounds like quite a party!

Was there on Friday
Had a great day, weather was perfect
Thought if anything it was a little quieter than last time we were there, although it was a Saturday last time
Had a lovely burger from the Well Hung and Tender van, as well as lots of cakes from various reps who obviously thought we had more money than we did

Did anyone see the wax waistcoats with the scooped back for sale right at the entrance gate into the countryside area and what make they were? They were for sale at a Schoffel tent and meant to go back for one but got held up socialising as you do!

Had a great day there yesterday, really puts the southern shows to shame, well worth the cost to get in. And there was a little British Friesians calf there too.

Yes, some of those posh stands sell jackets, leather belts etc , there is only a certain type of person who can shop in there, not for ordinary farming folk, unless birthday treat.
