Wasn’t she a lame duck, with a broken political wing as well as gammy political leg, when the Argies rowed a boat out to a bit of rock in the South Atlantic??
The rest is history. Without the Falklands business, to distract her political enemies and the tabloids, she would have been turfed out, replaced and forgotten about. An irrelevant foot note in history.

You could say ditto about Blair in a way. He’s remembered today mainly because of the Iraq war!!

Ditto the two Bush presidents in USA!!!

Ironic isn’t it?? Leaders place in history is founded primarily in war not peace!!

Say what you like about Thatcher, but an idiot she was not, a trained chemist with the credentials to prove it, obtained in a time when I bet there were few women entering that field as well.

Merkel, I believe has a PhD in chemistry as well but don't quote me.

Trump, meanwhile, does not have a degree in 'finance', no matter what he claims.

Trump hasn’t read a full book never mind a PhD in anything. Got a degree in screwing over suppliers though!!

Other than a bizarre thing for Edwina I quite liked john major. Light relief after what had come before (y)

Horses for courses. I think his father was a juggler in a circus which may account for his financial prowess. He certainly was not ringmaster material.
