Ploughing today. Went much better that I thought. No problems in penetration and turning over like lumps of coal

We gave up ploughing 8 years ago for min- till. Realised it was a huge mistake and started ploughing again 3 years ago. This is the first year that the sea gulls have returned to us in 9 years. I reckon it’s the sign of a healthy soil.

What was it with min-till that put you off? We've done all sorts the last few years from ploughing through to strip till and to be honest of all the systems the old solo, leave, spray off, drill then roll approach did'nt do us any harm. The only reason it encouraged blackgrass was if we didn't stick to the system of leaving it and spraying it off. Crops were always more even going into winter.

I like to see people buck the trend, if it works for you, why change it?

dont think that is meant to be hanging that
get some string and try it up ;)

Great design, drum belt snaps and takes out the reel speed motor, so that will be drum belt, plus £500 for the motor assembly

Then found the drum belts cracking, so changed them at the same time, its getting a slow and expensive year

Harvest all finished....exept for about 800 bales to cart and stack.

Dad cut the last piece of barley.

Had to bale some pea stalks, all 35 4fts of 16ha[emoji54] it's a good job it's a 10.5m header or if never have seen the swath.

Then back home to wrap up the last of our own. All done except for random phone calls or may be some late second cut if anyone's grass ever grows.

Occasionally everything goes to plan and I feel pretty pleased with the day’s achievements, and then I see one of Phil’s posts and I realise I’ve done very little....:(
I always wonder how @Phil P actually has a wife without seemingly being in the dog house for working all the time.....and whats more he has children - when did he have time for that service??
