need someone that's very good at maths I think, been wondering this one.

how much soil will a 3 m claydon move across its working width in terms of kilos, running at an inch deep using various coulters .
9 inch A share 7 and 1 inch bean coulters. 9 coulters.

Used the 9 inch share to put some wheat in on tight land as an experiment that's all come nicely n looks the part just separating the rows a little bit more with standard seed boot. Also used it for put spring oats with companion in.obviously it is moving a fair bit more 81 inches over the 7 inch blade moving 63 when new.

Will the splitter seed boot put the seed out to 9”?

Where do you buy the 9" shares from? Brocks? Do they give the C tines a lot more grief? I thought they'd take more power to pull.

@Rob Holmes was talking about these a while ago I think.

They came from spaldings or pan anglia can't remember which one it was now , abslouteley fine to pull , havent really noticed any issues with the c tines ,

The attached picture is of the spring oats this afternoon, might not show the spread quite as well, but it's definitely putting the seeds across a wider area when you have a look, if u look very carefully there's some 2 leaf white clover in there too

IIRC it was APM selling the 9 inch A shares, I was told by Claydons that the splitter boot does not spread to the full 9 inches, so i didn't buy them.
I instead bought a set of cheap 7 inch A shares from Spalding which had a thinker centre point, for which I got a slap on the wrist from Jeff Claydon as he explained that the thicker centre point doesn't wear as a normal point should, and is slightly longer thus changing the geometry of the seeding tine which can cause leg breakages.
Will stick to Bourgaults now

Jeff makes plenty out of selling Bougault parts! I remember him showing some dodgy A shares with the wrong pitch and making a point about the soil flow. Just interested in a wider row spacing for spring crops.

Another question - did you shear any of the knock on point bolts off? I see APM sell 12.9 strength bolts to replace the 8.8 ones. 10mm too long so may have to shorten half so they fit behind the seed boots.

I will post a picture but will be next week due to a technical difficulty, only bolts the apes have broken are those little short ones that hold the splitter boot on , got some locally that are longer with some washers on doesn't look as neat but me the ape cant over tighten ,

Did you manage to find a photo of the 9” A shares?

Do you think that the splitter boots spread the seed to the full width of the 9” share and the rows look noticeably wider?
And do you think it puts any more stress on the C tine using them?

They did put the seed wider of the splitter boot, definitely n yes when things start coming up it's a wider row ,
As far as stress goes on the c tine not sure we didn't snap any legs with those shares on, only time that has happened was with a bean share on.

All I will say is they do move a fair bit more soil than a 7 inch share,
