I bought my 818 @€65plus vat 6000hrs sold it at 12000hrs for €27 plus. Add in 20k parts and Labour I think she cost me €10 per hour depreciation and parts n Labour. But my memory had it double that. I must be forgetting something!
Makes renting so much more attractive

So the new machine is £170k? Surely that can't be right?

no it can’t be - a new 724 full spec profi plus is 135 k to order deliver March 2019

Not sure anone is going to pay 35k more for a 720

If I was to trade a 4K hr 724 (which I’m not as it’s good fir anothe 6k hrs with us yet ) the depreciation would be under £7/hr

So much rubbish is talked about fendt prices, ........ mostly by people that run other brands

That’s more like it, if he got 90 and new at 135; that’s 15 quid an hour which would be on a par with hire

The trade in in my case cost 110k though when new so depreciation is the difference between that and current value divided by hours it’s done so £6.25-7.50 depending where you value a 4K hr old 724

Cost to change is not the same as depreciation. My 4K tractor isn’t being traded in as I say it’s good for many more hours yet ! That’s what you get when you buy a premium and high quality brand !

Price isn’t really that important - cost of ownership is what matters

I don’t think fendt are alone in their price rises, our currency is worth significantly less than it was a few years ago

How do you know cost of ownership until you sell it though?
If you traded the old one, what you got for it would change the ownership cost wouldn't it?
If you did trade the old one in for a new one what would the deal look like?

I don’t know the true cost until I sell it

I said ‘if” I was to sell it (which I’m not ) so it’s a completely theoretical number at this point which will reduce further with age

Depreciation costs relate to the machine your costing not its replacement which more often than not will probably not even be the same machine or may not even be replaced at all when that time comes

Well this is what I told him Clive, that a 724 would be around 140 with a few options but he said that’s what they’ve quoted him this week, and he’s a good customer with them running krone, mchale and jcb tackle from them too. Can’t be right.

I see what you mean but a lot of people do trade in a replacement instead of keeping the old one or selling privately which makes the deal look different.
The dealer may give you a straight price of 135 because he knows there's no trade but if he knows there's a trade he might say the tractors 150 but i'll give you x for yours making the trade look good.
If you went back to him now and said ok 135 what will you give me for mine, what price would your old one be, or what could you realistically get privately?
All the deals look different because they are different
