Just how comfortable are 4000 series Fastracs?

Right I've got a 4220 and comfort is nothing startling, most comfortable tractor I've driven was a Fendt 724 with the 3 air bag cab suspension.

Personally I think the ride from a 42 is very good, but make sure the seat is set right or it can fight the suspension.
Ride is definitely better than the 3000s were.

A lot of people say the Fastracs are no better, but you would be surprised how many people drive faster until it gets too rough, and don’t look at the speedo. Thus it feels like it’s no different, but they’re probably doing another 5-10mph.

Have had a sore back recently. Has made me realise how I really don't want this to be a long term problem. Back wrenching bumps and jolts from fixed axle tractors not helping. Just how much of a difference comes from the Fastrac suspension?

Our Deutz 6185 has an air suspended cab and the front axle suspension seems to do a lot of work.

It's smooooth.

Of course it's not as trendy as a Fendt but it looks meaner.

I never had a back twinge when putting 1500hrs/yr on a mf6290 in between bedding and feeding cattle. Now all I do is drive tractors for a lot less hours I get the occasional ache and twinge.

The reason: a lack of core strength

Perhaps try Pilates or yoga before spending £80k on a new tractor

Ha! Have the name of a back specialist I need to book in to see.

Just out of interest @Feldspar , what’s your current wepen of choice?

I mean if your currently driver a tractor with front and rear fixed axles, no cab suspension and a mechanical seat (not that I think you will be) then just getting a tractor with decent cab and axle suspension is going to be like night and day.

I’ve spent a little bit of time on a 4220 (only a couple of hours) and personally couldn’t say there was a vast difference in the field compared to my 6215r with cab/axle suspension. As has already been said though tyre pressure/choice can make a big difference also.

Mainly 7600 MFs with front suspension and Opti-ride cab suspension without an active seat. One MF6613 on narrower tyres at 20psi and mechanical cab suspension is worse. As said above, the MF7620 on 710 Xeobibs is the least jarring, but it does wallow a bit on the road.

I has one a couple of years ago for a couple of days and found it very comfortable compared to JD with tls only now I use an R series with cab suspension I think the JCB will still have the edge and the cab is vast and the seat can turn nearly fully sideways it would definitely be my first choice for spreading fert spraying etc and with the tyre pressures down on it it was a fair tool for ploughing and sumoing

20psi on narrow tyres and mechanical cab suspension is never going to be the optimal setup for comfort! But what sort of tyre configuration would the jcb need to be on? Would the tyre setup make much difference to the ride on a fastrac? Possibly not as much as a fixed rear axle I suppose.

Would go on something like a 600/70R30. Ideally get the best tyre possible to offer as low running pressures as possible.

To be fair your not going to find anything better on the market currently for comfort then, is it going to be night and day over what you’ve got? Maybe, maybe not, It’s more a case for justifying the experience of swapping I would say.
Think a demo and a full tff report back is required in this situation;)(y)

Wouldn't swap just for the comfort improvement. It's more if we change then comfort will be one of the most important things on the list given it would do most of its hours on a sprayer which would be often at some fairly fast forward speeds. Fastrac has other useful features like 4 wheel steer and good performance on the road which also made me think about them.

Every time I look at new tractors I just can't quite get over the price rise over our last 2014 fleet change. Most are only on about 1500-2500 hours so there's no real need to change.
