I always find that picture quite upsetting. Maybe I’m a bit soft. For all I know it was staged, but it’s become synonymous with all the memes and media hype to do with palm oil. I just want to know what happened to that individual for some reason.

It's because it is so human
We can relate to it
It is very emotive

No doubt that's why it is used . . .

Video online of guys killing an orangutan while clearing forest is a gruesome watch. Tries to run down a fallen tree and stopped by the digger bucket then killed as it gets on the ground. And they call livestock farming cruel. Bas****s

Yes, but while this goes on out of sight for the masses, and people continue to get their cheap goods and the multi's feed their insatiable drive for higher profits at any cost, it is fine; isnt it :banghead:

I have said it before - We, the people; are the real disease on this planet. We are so content to continue decimating everything that gets in our way for a quick buck, a cheaper item, quest for eternal youth etc, that we will always find a way to hide the true impact of how our own actions are assisting the demise of the planet and its ecosystem.

I am no tree hugger etc, although that has been used to challenge me personally for my decisions to try and reduce my impact, try and correct some ill guided wrongs I have done in my life, to put back something for what I take etc, whereby I continue to be in the minority, so this kind of thing will always go on until there are no more left...

IMHO, we will unfortunatley wake up far too late for a lot of things / species, because far too many of us are looking to the same multi's to come up with the answers for everything - as ignorance is bliss!!!

Subjectively, potentially another reason why that Advert was banned in the UK. Actually opening up the PC state more and seeing the truth is a dangerous concept for many to behold, as we cannot afford to let real end users see how they're contributing to the deaths of so many of our world wide species... Not very good for profits either is it...

Additionally - the same ignorant ones will be more than likely the first to riot when there is no food on the shelves ..... Go figure!!

Anyhoo - will crawl back under my rock now.

:)

People like convenience. Their ideals fall like leaves in the autumn when faced with convenience.

Boxed stuffing shows us this.

Stuffing is about three ingredients. Bread, a bit of water and some spices. Mix it up, put it in the oven.

Yet instead of making this, people buy it in a box to make on the stovetop.

Maybe one day people will realize that their convenient items aren’t really that much more convenient. But until then they’ll want palm oil and 24 hour super markets and boxed stuffing.

Ironically is it maybe only modern western society which has the power to change things through government.

However it’s never going to happen.(n)

Modern western society at a grass roots & individual level HAS the power through protests, voting patterns, purchasing decisions, social conscious etc . . .

But governments are ALWAYS beholding to industry, lobbyists & big money . . .

Unsurprisingly we had no increase in water allocation today. And are around 75000 megs short of getting one(n) And yet Victoria keep pulling water out of their asses.... Another 1% to vic Murray sees them up to 90% and the goulburn went up 3% to 89%.
Consequently temporary water is now up to $435/meg o_O
As for the recent palm oil posts, I'm afraid this year we are part of the problem as palm kernal meal is one of the cheaper stock supplements this year:(

Your on a tractor? Does that mean you are planting something and that there has been some more rain?

Tractor - yes. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate tractors . . .

Planting - unfortunately no. The falls of rain we have received have not done anything for the subsoil moisture, which is still bone dry ( & subsoil moisture, a "full" profile, is what we rely on to grow our crops, we grow on stored soil moisture rather than "hoping" it will rain on the crop ). No, the moisture is very shallow & has just germinated a lot of aggressive & "succession" weeds, which at this time of year use a lot of moisture & have little benefit . . .
Recent falls have just cost people a lot of money from controlling these "weeds", without presenting any planting opportunities or giving any hope of it . . .
This is a neighbours block that I lease & there is a serious issue with glyphosate resistant ryegrass ( have I mentioned I hate ryegrass ? ) It is shallow rooted & particularly aggressive at using moisture & causing issues with soil structure, seed soil contact & germination of following crops . . .
Anyway, I am running a Blade Plough through it, to take out the ryegrass with minimal disturbance of the soil surface. A Canadian machine that used to be popular here in the min till days before cheap glyphosate & full on zero till
The other option is big rates of paraquat, but I don't like doing that & this is cheaper ( although a lot slower )

Think I much prefer ryegrass to bindi's and paddy melons and all the other sh!t that grows......funny how different livestock to cropping farmers see ryegrass.......my dream is for a genetically modified ryegrass that you can spray barley grass out of. Now theres a price of a weed if ever I saw one:mad:

The BOM are predicting big rain here next Tuesday/Wednesday ( let's see how badly they f**k this up). So of course my neighbor who has asked me to rake and bale hay for him . Has decided to cut his lucerne today( no conditioner:rolleyes:) , even though he's away in WA:rolleyes:. I replied that he might want to check the forecast before he cuts all his shaftal......
