Not as much happened today as I would have liked! After spending best part of two hours talking to a customer when they came to pick up there tractor first thing this morning , then the phone didn’t stop ringing:facepalm:.

I did however manage to fit a new buckle blade for a customer in between answering the phone.

Fortune favours the brave

Faint heart never won the fair maiden

or something like that - in other words, you've gotta have a go to get anywhere
Planting Sorghum at home, limited moisture so only planting 170 hectare. Window for Sorghum pretty much till Christmas, then would still go out to late January for sunnies & Mungs, so I'm hedging my bets a bit
Planting in a single skip configuration, to conserve moisture, in expectation of tough season ahead. 1 metre rows, 2 in 1 out, so effectively planting 66% of the field area, with a 2 m gap between 2 x 1m rows. Still sticking with an overall population of around 60,000 / ha, but planting at around 90,000 / ha in the actual plant row, if that makes sense.

In the field
Before any pansy starts whinging about no trees, no hedges or any other sh!t, I will remind you that this was a vast open grassland plain, similar to the North American prairies
Thank fudge there are no hedges or small fields, a D8 would soon be put to use if there were . . .
Personally, I find a harsh beauty in these plains, I find green rolling hills, small fields, hedges & close settlement all too claustrophobic

Holding treated seed is definitely a case of “do as I say not do as I do”.
At least you are able to get on with field work. It’s all but over here with the rainfall now. Just need to turn the globe upside down for a day:D

Overheads to the house have been rubbed by trees for years, the electric people refuse to do anything about it until the wires are broken, they bahe broken twice in the recent past and I have asked both gangs to do the branch removal - they still refuse saying that they will come back and mend each break when it happens and cut the single offending branch off.

Sadly our house is the only one on that line and so it is well down the priority list when we are cut off.

Today we had a planned electricity cut of 6 hours so I went out with the pole saw, cherry picker and did it myself (with a driver/traffic stopper too of course)
