Local hedgecutterman used to use a slasher blade years back on a Ford bubble cab, had a big cut in the centre post from the slasher either comming off or him pulling the wrong lever.

Pleased you're OK @Kevtherev - no amount of morning checks (short of stripping it down and re-building it every morning) can legislate for something like that
I think you may well be able to put in a claim for damages with @neilo I'm sure I saw you using it over at Neilo Towers on some 'trees' - that will, likely as not, weakened it
Scary things saw blades. We used to borrow one that had a habit of shearing the bolts off the hub - you soon learned to use it with the blade angled away from the tractor
