Not long got home from the show. Enjoyed the show had a 10 minutes or so wait for the shuttle bus after parking. Was a bit disappointed the big tractor makes were missing, especially when the small tractor make Armatrac had a big stand displaying their tractors. If they could afford that stand surely New Holland etc could have afforded a stand. Lots of other interesting stuff there to look at though.

Been today, yes, good, enjoyed it.

Advice for tomorrow; register online tonight and print it off, you get to walk straight in and haven't gotta faff about registering at the desk. Don't wear a particularly 'outdoorsy' coat/jacket or whatever, it's plenty warm enough! The halls are absolutely not in logical order :ROFLMAO: If you want any grub from any of the mini 'restaurants' you wana do it before dinner time if you can, spent 45 mins in a queue only to be told they had to temporarily stop taking food orders as they couldn't keep up, came away with a tea and a scone!

Was a doddle to get in, a bit stop start for the last mile or so but nothing like as bad as Newark.

It IS a lot of big kit though, I couldn't see loads that would appeal to many smaller farmers or contractors. I'm not saying there wasn't any at all, but if it's less than 30 grand they don't seem bring it along. How many people are buying tri axle high speed trailers and self propelled slurry things the size of a small village?! 10 rotor tedders and massive rakes. You feel like a hinderance if you ask about something that would suit 120hp, 4 pot tractor.... I'm sure more normal sized stuff must be sold than machines where there may only be a handful in the whole country. Dealers yards don't hold much stock these days so you more or less just buy out of the book and hope it's as good as they say it is. I find it very difficult to actually SEE what I'm looking to buy anymore.

I fully understand and appreciate why, as plot sizes are determined by huge prices and they can't fit much on the stand. General feel I got was that a lot were sceptical about whether they returned next year, a lot seemed to only be there to 'test the water' and the fact they had a discount due to day two of last year. Not a single truck stand and a lot of small independent stands and stuff you can actually buy there and then were missed in my opinion.

Brexit and pound strength (or lack of) was blamed for the prices for a lot of the things I asked about. How some people can genuinely afford some of this kit solely through farming or contracting alone is beginning to be baffling. I don't know, it felt very much for the big farmer/contractor, just seems as a younger person in the industry you're working ever harder just to stand still, never mind having any prospect of growing or expanding.

Less than half the distance for us but wouldn't complain if it was at Newark again, especially if that meant the big names and the small independents were there, plus all the other stuff. Just my opinion, doubt I'm the only one that thinks what I've just said. Fully appreciate why it's like it is and I very much enjoyed the day but it's not like the old Lamma. No sarcastic or narky comments please :D

Was impressed with the show , dealers seemed more approachable, nice to be in the warm , most people I spoke with seemed to think it would be worth a tenner to get in if it helped to reduce stand costs so more firms big and small would attend. I think the numbers of visitors surprised some , food stalls had long waits and some ran out of supplies.

Nice to walk round a show with out been hounded by salesman trying to sell tractors for a change ........ the big boys weren’t missed.... defo spend more time looking at thinks needed not wanted !!!

Bigger than I thought. Spent about 7 hours walking around and didn't see everything. It's free to park and free to enter. Lots of big names and smaller exhibitors, manual & cordless tools etc.

Lots of exhibitors .. although Ford-New Holland, John Deere, Massey Ferguson brands were missing I didn't particularly miss them.

Plenty of kit from all over Europe .. interesting to see some Ukrainian kit .. £20K+ for a 6 metre disc press needing about 250hp. Impressed. Weaving Machinery with a £20K subsoiler.

Kuhn stand was massive with a complete range of kit - sprayer, plough, cultivators, spreaders.

Inside, warm, not wet, not muddy, not expensive and could get good food with a place to sit and chat.

Wish I had more time to go through some of the smaller stands but just ran out of time.

Best show I've been to bar none.

Very impressed by the amount of kit and farmer attendance.

Also slightly heartened in that when we lost Smithfield and The Royal I felt our industry lost much more than just the two events. I felt the positive vibe in the NEC was an encouraging statement of faith by our industry for our industry.

We ran out of cake on the NFU stand and we normally over-cater.

I hope they stick with it, same time, same place, same entry price.

I think the caterers did not anticipate the numbers going. I expect there would be some frantic phone calls last night getting food for today. All we need now is the Livestock, and the smell of sawdust!!
After all we are near good grass country! I did not see our political leaders there learning and supporting our industry and its connected companies! Thanks to our Local McCormick dealer for the coach ride!!

If the absentees are there next year it will make all the difference to filling up the day, got there at 9 finished looking around by 3 .The big names and a bi annual show is what's needed for the future £25 entry fee and that money subsidising the small stands that make the show what it is.

Looking on FB and Twitter last night it appeared that many manufacturers had one or two machines whereas previously they had six to ten? Certainly some have bigger stands at YAMS? Was this the case or just the way the camera lies?
