So is greedEnvy is one of the seven deadly sins!
I suppose the key question is ‘why he is doing it’
If it’s because he has a genuine love of farming and the countryside and wants to improve farming methods and profitability then fair play to him.
If he is buying up vast tracts of land for the sole intention of his kids avoiding inheritance tax then I think this is wrong - but no more than anyone else doing the same.
I suspect it is a bit of both.[/QUOTE
Yes - it is the current tax regime which has turned farmland into a gold-plated inheritance tax
avoidance scheme, and you cannot blame people for taking advantage of the laws.

The inheritance tax argument doesn't stand up to any scrutiny.
James Dyson is buying these farms through a limited company which is part of the same group which owns his vacuum cleaner business. As it is a private (i.e. unlisted) company he would already be entitled to pass that wealth on with 100% relief from inheritance tax.
Whatever his motives for getting into farming are, they don't appear to be tax related.
If he is buying them through the same limited company can he not offset money spent on farm repairs against profits on other branches of the business?
Does this not offer a tax -efficient route to upgrading farms and enhancing profitability and possibly capital valuation?
He spent £6 million on draining last year so I read somewhere
how many ?he sacrifices small children and eats them for breakfast, so I read somewhere....
Looks like 2 fingers and moving manufacturing to Singapore alledgedly ???
Head office is moving. Electric cars were always planned to be built out there. Hoovers are already built in Malaysia.

Read the small print not the headlines.....
"Dyson has announced that it is moving its headquarters to Singapore, from Malmesbury in Wiltshire.
The move by the appliance maker means two executives will relocate - chief financial officer Jorn Jensen and chief legal officer Martin Bowen.
Other work at Malmesbury will not be affected and no jobs will be lost."
Yes, technically moving 2 people..... deffo "abandoning the UK post Brexit"..
There is far more to moving a business' registered office than meets the eye. He wouldn't bother doing so otherwise. The business will no longer be domiciled in the UK.
The two jobs are insignificant except as clouds to blow in your eyes.
