So in the event of brexit is Uk farming finished? Cheap imports on the shelves and no farming subsidy will the govenerment let the industry fall because people could be fed from food produced outside of this country.

With tensions in the South China Sea etc the world is not as safe as place as we are led to believe, the first lesson in war 101 is starve an enemy out, so I couldn’t see the “people in charge” (the more I see of government at moment I would seriously doubt that they are actually in charge) letting that slip to far.

There's absolutely no evidence whatsoever that the currently UK Westminster government will let farming go to the wall, is there!!!!

After all, they haven't let Thames water be sold to the Chinese, power and utility's to France, Spain and Germany, haven't let the car industry dwindle to become nothing more than assembly plants for foreign owned ex colonies, they definitely never decided it was cheaper to put thousands on the dole for generations, shut the mines, and import coal.

The Westminster mob would never dream of outsourcing ship building from our skilled labour because it's cheaper elsewhere after the steel works were shut. It's ludicrous to even suggest we'd be paying France or Japan to build nuclear power for us, we lead the world in its technology!

Let British farming go to the wall?

Import food because it's cheaper grown in sunny climates without pesky welfare standards or annoying pesticide bans?

Don't be so bloody silly, there's not a sheds of evidence that the soft Southern governors would ever do that to us!

What do you think the vegan propaganda is all about? It certainly isn't to save the climate from petrochemicals, soil erosion, deforestation, or water usage. It's because it's cheaper to ship it twice round the planet via processors and middle men than it is to grow it here.

It's the same reason horsemeat was used in lasagne, because it was cheaper.

What's going to be imported to the UK that isn't currently?
Does Brexit mean you cant export anything?
Do the Dairy, Poultry, Pork and veg farmers rely on subs that much? Or is there any evidence that the supermarkets are going to stop buying from them?
Things might change a bit, there might be a few less RR's about and a few might have to learn to fix a machine instead of trading it every other year for the latest and greatest. but why would UK farming be finished? Different perhaps but not finished.

Farming will flourish precisely because subs will change emphasis (and be reduced) and allow the younger, enthusiastic and adaptable farmer to have a go
The industry will have different products ---not just food but also ''greening & public access '' in all it's many forms
(Feeling optimistic this morning :))
