Is Minette Batters wrong?

  • Yes, she's wrong, it's Project Fear etc , I'd rather bet my farm on Esther McVey's opinion

    Votes: 52 55.9%

  • Total voters

I don't follow. The chap that used to run the WTO equates the regime to a football team playing in the premiership who suddenly decide to knock down their stadium and play in the 4th division with a portacabin for a dressing room. What axe does he have to grind? or what trough is worried will run empty?

And this one mans opinion is the be all and end all? Don’t forget what they said would happen to the economy should we even vote for brexit and they were very wrong.

Anyhow, sorry to say that I’m all a bit annoyed by the whole debacle and my faith in the civil service and our politicians probably will never recover.

I bet playing 4th division is a darn sight more fun.

Random bloke owns nearly a thousand pubs, trading from all over the world, would trust him more than any politician!

I'm not suggesting that you should trust any politician, far from it

I'm asking why won't you consult a professional? someone with expertise in WTO negotiations for example? someone where it's literally their job to know the rules and how they will impact on your business or industry?

If you needed your spleen removed, would you consult the bloke down the pub? or would you go and see a specialist consultant?

If it’s the Tim Martin’s of this world, who shine brightly post Independence Day, then Britain will be a better place then hell. But only very marginally, and not for long. Hell will seem like a much better place after a week or two....

How you can write such nonsense beats me, even if it all goes wrong it will not be like hell on earth. How a grown up human being can write such vomit beats me, how bitter and twisted you must be. Grow up please. At worst it will be an economic crisis , not the end of the world. Your getting carried away with your keyboard warrior antics.

Does he (Mr Martin that is) trade worldwide? Genuine question please. I thought he just bought things from around the world - doesn't sell anything abroad? Easy to buy in - just shout and pay less. More difficult to sell. But I am most likely wrong. Regards

Excellent question, does he export significant amounts of produce around the world? I don't think he does but like yourself I'm more than happy to be corrected on this. I'm sure some of Mr Martin's devotees who are familiar with his business operations will be along shortly to enlighten us on this point

incidentally, poll percentages now reading:
37.2% Batters and WTO professionals
62.8% Random politicians and blokes that own pubs

Have you any proof Ashtree is a grown up ? He sure is wicked with his caustic barbs, even when the are wildly off side. But he can make you laugh !!!!!!!

TBH, I thought I was going to be OK being a dairy farmer under WTO rules ...... until I read Dairy Farmer over the cornflakes.
Seems like our useless MPs will drop import tariffs in order to keep food prices low but have to accept 40-80% export tariffs. Add to this that our milk processing capacity will be oversubscribed given a good spring flush and we are well & truly f**ked under WTO/no deal. At least in the short term

And does ANYONE in the UK actually trust Trump who only yesterday stated that he loves "trade barriers"?

Trumps only interest is the votes of a 100,000 or so American citizens on certain key counties in Pennsylvania, Missouri etc.

Exactly but our MPs seem to think that we will be a the head of the queue when it comes to a favourable trade deal. Some crap about "special relationships" - tis only because the Yanks speak English after a fashion (& in any case, Spanish is creeping up fast to be the predominantly spoken language in a lot of States now)

Yep. From a trade perspective Brexit is quite an interesting experiment. I watch with interest. The other aspects of Brexit are also interesting but not always linked with trade. Interesting times. As long as you have your health is my motto.

Since 1972 the public have never been asked about our ever closer integration into the euro project , well we have now , yes you vote for your MEP but do you even know who they are or what they do ? , nobody i have asked can tell me ,
i dont doubt if everybody in the EU were asked the same question many countries would vote leave by much bigger majoraties than happened here ,thats why there was such shock in brussels that we were even allowed a vote ,they know the public distrust them , which is a damning verdict of the european parliament after all this time .The net recipients of EU funds are bought and paid for , the only ones with choice are the contributors at the moment ,UK Farmings been broken for decades made worse by EU gravy train , the money as in BSP or stewardship doesnt get to the ones that need it and the stifles young and new ideas.
