One for meat is it ?
Rules,regs,movement licences,tags,
They dont like cold and wet.
Have you paddock or area ok to root up?
Welsh, landrace good here anyhow but you may need more haired breed if cooler there?
Do you have slaughter house local that does small ,private jobs?
Killing, cutting up cost higher and higher .

I've given thought to keeping a pig, but they are pretty clever and have quite a personality, so I'd struggle to have it killed.
Particularly if there was only one or two.

Which means I'll just have to continue eating other people's.

Yes, sending our sows is the hardest for me, because they have been here a while.
When i take finished pigs in, even though it's small numbers, they are coming out of a pen of 15-30.

We do a couple each year, selling one for the freezer and eating the other.:hungry:
Do you have any sheds empty in the summer? I have a couple of weaners in June/July and keep them inside until finished in October/November, feeding pig finishing pellets. I certainly wouldn’t bother if it meant trashing some grassland, trying to keep them in and still having to feed them nearly as much.
I have a couple of friends that do similar but try to do it cheaply by just feeding rolled barley, bought in a tote bag. They feed them more feed over almost twice as long. Like feeding anything else to finish, sometimes cheapest isn’t best.

I have Durocs off a friend that breeds them, very tasty & meaty they are too. A nice bit of fat, but not too much like GOSs:sick:. Had a Welsh once and wouldn’t be in a hurry to have another as more fat and less meat compared to the Durocs. Can’t really comment on other breeds, but depends what you can get hold off to an extent.

I have empty sheds but also have an acre corner would be suitable.
