Bird call identification.

Listening to a distinctive bird call just now but no idea how to identify it.

It kind of goes wooooo-eeep weep weep.

Is there any site I can go to to try and identify it?

The Chirp app is very good & has a big database. No search basis of what the OP has described though, you just have to work through the list until you find a match.

Could be a Little Owl. Sometimes sounds like a cat meowing. We have a particularly noisy one here. :rolleyes:

I've just read the OP's interpretation of the sound out loud and it does sound like some sort of owl!

Hold on. There's a big van turned up at the door with a couple of chaps in white coats. Now what the hell do they want?

Apart from a very, very few written descriptions of a bird's call (e.g. yellowhammer*), there is little less likely to explain the actual sound to another person, I write from experience... :whistle: :banghead:


*Generally accepted as: 'A little bit of bread and no cheese'

What about the Chickadee or Killdeer.
