Forgive me Father, for I have sinned...

I tried a Greggs vegan sausage roll, and worse still I quite liked it.

Not as greasy as the regular sausage roll, which made it easier to eat without inadvertently covering the steering wheel in oily residue. Apart from that I struggled to tell the difference between them.

This isn't my first dalliance with Vegan food. My daughter tricked me into eating vegan fish fingers a while back, though I should have spotted the impending trap when she offered to make me a fish-finger sandwich without having to be bribed. Again, I didn't notice any difference until the teenage sniggering from her and her brothers gave the game away that I was the butt of a joke.

Still, since I was in Greggs anyway I treated myself to a tasty cream bun that I'll have with a cup of tea later. That should count as at least one dairy based Hail Mary towards my penance...

To be be honest perhaps we should all try one, after all veganism is not going away, they still eat food that is produced by farmers. It may not help the meat producers but may be we should be pragmatic about it and accept it will become a slightly bigger part of our culture and embrace(perhaps that’s a bit strong) it, adapt change and make the most of it. To reject it totally and be negative just shows a degree of small mindedness and unwillingness to look to the future, living in the past does no one any good.
Look what happened to Kodak...
TBH haven’t got a clue where my nearest Greggs is.

My son, you have indeed sinned. I would refer you to my recent post on the environmental damage caused by eating a vegetarian sausage. Your penance shall be to recite the Three Hail Mary's and to devour a proper sausage roll.

Vegetarian sausages ?
Ingredients: Rehydrated textured soya protein, water, soya protein concentrate, palm oil, seasoning (sulphites, dextrose, salt, flavourings, onion powder, yeast extract, colour, red iron oxide) , rapeseed oil, rusk (fortified wheat flour, wheat flour, calcium carbonate, iron, niacin, thiamin), salt, raising agent, ammonium bicarbonate, stabilizer: methyl cellulose, tomato puree, salt.

Inputs: An incalculable amount of diesel, electricity, water, raw materials, pesticides and packaging.

Eat a vegetarian sausage and you destroy a rainforest, lower a water table, wreck a soil structure, pollute a river, build a power station, clog a motorway, and fill a landfill site.

I was bought a coffee in a coffee shop recently. Thought it tasted distinctly weird but as they were busy, drank it. Commented on strange and slightly unpleasant taste of coconut when I took my empty back. Barista said she must have used coconut milk by mistake, did apologise and offer me a free coffee. I certainly will never be ordering a coconut milk coffee , yuk. Give me real milk every time.

Is the irony of a fast food outlet retailing a product that retails on the strength of its 'light impact' on the environment not lost on anyone else? I mean vegan sausage roll for fecks sake.

I think Greggs retailing vegan food is great and the more that these shoddy food outlets get involved the less credible the whole vegan eating disorder (and that is what it really is when all is said and done) becomes.

I am not surprised that a Greggs vegan sausage roll is nice, most of there products are nice for humans because they are packed full of highly processed additives, sugar and salt to make it taste 'nice'.

Farmers grow vegetables as well.

Can’t see an issue with the whole not eating meat/dairy products really.

What I do have an issue with is folks ramming there way is the only way down my throat all the time.

Fine you eat rabbit food I eat tiger food. You don’t bother me I won’t bother you!

If you feel that guilty just go anorexic, and stick your finger down your throat

I wonder how many vegans it takes to make one vegan sausage roll ?
it must be a fair few I would think, not a very efficient way of food production when you consider the carcase waste disposal cost
they must be expensive or are greggs selling them as a loss leader

You need that on. Big poster or too in the likes of London and other big cities. The vegan lot like to ignore the damage their diet does around the world, bit hypocritical really

Sorry my son.
There just aren’t enough Hail Marys you can say for this sin to ever be forgiven!

I noticed a Quorn advert on TV the other day their latest sneaky trick is to call their pale coloured processed fungus shite "chicken free slices" seeing as they aren't allowed to call it vegan chicken anymore.
I've tried a vegan sausage. Sister in law who is a (bulls**t/hypocrite) vegetarian (she eats bloody fish FFS) bet me that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between one and a real sausage because "they taste exactly the same"
Well it must have been a bloody long time since she had a real one because it didn't taste the same as a sausage it didn't taste like a sausage at all it was just sort of a salty processed taste and a weird texture. Not horrible but weird. You could probably get used to it to be honest but why? Gave what was left of it to their cat who sniffed it and walked away. The birds in the garden hadn't eaten it by the next afternoon either which I thought said a lot about it because they ate everything else. No wonder wife's brother looks so ill if he is expected to eat that every day.
Vegan and vegetarian food can be quite good (not that I eat much of it, leek and potato soup or something maybe or an occasional banana  ) the best curry I've ever had was a veg one. It was in a Sikh temple (I can't spell the proper name  ) we went to with school when I was about 14. I wouldn't have chosen it but it was so good I asked for seconds... Then all the women came out of the kitchen to meet me and were all hugging me and speaking to me in a language I couldn't understand  they were so glad I enjoyed it and wasn't just an ungrateful shite like most kids on school trips :ROFLMAO:
So why do they have to try so hard to make it look like meat FFS. It's like they are in denial about the whole thing.
