I have had a red heifer today from one of my stock bulls. there are some Friesian bulls about carrying the red gene but I have only ever had red calves from swedish red lines. Blackisle Glenalbyn was a carrier and my understanding is that the recessive red gene can always be there in the background but I am happy to be told otherwise.Got 2 red heifer calves off of our 98% British Friesian stock bull now. Granted one of the cows has a bit of Ayrshire in her.
Is it quite common for British Friesians to carry the red gene?
One of the heifers also seems to be polled, which is a first for us.

I've no personal experience of embryo transfer but looking from the outside it looks like a risky expensive way of getting into the breedDo any of you breeders sell embryos ?

Your 100% correct. But im from Northern Ireland and its hard to get any good pedigree cows ?
There is a lot of interest from NI at the moment
