Got 2 red heifer calves off of our 98% British Friesian stock bull now. Granted one of the cows has a bit of Ayrshire in her.

Is it quite common for British Friesians to carry the red gene?

One of the heifers also seems to be polled, which is a first for us.

I have had a red heifer today from one of my stock bulls. there are some Friesian bulls about carrying the red gene but I have only ever had red calves from swedish red lines. Blackisle Glenalbyn was a carrier and my understanding is that the recessive red gene can always be there in the background but I am happy to be told otherwise.

Deangate Centurion is the sire of our stock bull.

Quite like having a few red calves about, although hoping there aren’t too many red and white bull calves to sell.

There is a lot of interest from NI at the moment

Yea im sure there is it sort of went all holstein here years ago then people was using fleckvieh and montbeliarde bulls to put a bit of strenght back into there cows. I just want pedigree holsteins and british fresians so im trying to tap into good cow families. Would love some offspring of that rodbrook katja and blackisle daphne ? Maybe im rong there is possibly better families to get into hoping you guys can help ?
