a poultry rep told me last week 64000 bird unit is thinking of selling mid wales

New egg sheds have been going up in Northern Ireland, eggs destined for GB. Guys seem pretty confident about it. Varying types of contracts it seems, but most of them don't carry much risk in terms of feed cost etc. What's the problem?
longevity of the contract, some might be linked to feed tracker but most likely there will be price cuts yet to come, however more likely to be reliable source of income than most other farming options.

You with ballygarvey?
Guys have borrowed a million quid to set up two houses apparently. Ballygarvey I believe also doing an arrangement where they own the shed for first X flocks, and it's basically a management fee they pay.

So they're basing their confidence on the false information their packer is giving them?
At the BFREPA conference last autumn we were told that there are already enough free range eggs being produced to supply the UK once the retailers have stopped buying cage eggs.
So at the moment theres a huge oversupply, particularly of medium and small.
no hen house here, is it a new thing that ballygarvey is doing or was that always there way. from talking to farmers it seems most places are reducing prices, and not many are actually on a contract, just flock to flock.
