They sound very good value. I'm sure they'll be back next year for more. Repeat custom is the best custom and the best advert.

I’d agree, but suggest @pgk ‘s son does some costings, including all recording costs, ground rent, flock depreciation, etc. If he’s selling his best at that money, i’d be surprised if a well run commercial flock producing fat lambs wasn’t more profitable.

But hey, we all need a hobby and there’s worse ones to have. :)

I was thinking the same but chose to say 'good value' rather than 'too bloody cheap!'

charollais looked very commercial prices , maybe cheaper than Builth ,
Chars are almost a busted flush up here. Demand has dropped back quite a bit from 10+ yr ago
wrong type im afraid , the northern ones look good in the ring ,lacking on the ground . still very popular down here for long blocky clean headed southdown types with shape , have sold quite a few to people (ex customers) coming back from texels and beltex crosses this year . Had a new breeder looking for a ram in scotland , so i pointed them to who i thought would have some decent types , but they were quoted best part of a grand for a ram lamb from a few breeders not very encouraging for someone with a couple of pure ewes ,

It's a strange alternate world, the Chars. You'd think the right types would come through, via trail and error within the society pushing in the right direction...

I do know some who have and are happy with the Char, but most are like myself - tried them before and in no rush to try again.
