Farmer Roy's Random Thoughts - I never said it was easy.

Watched sky last night. I must say reading between the lines what littleproud said was pathetic. "We are going to get someone independent to undertake a transparent process to ensure there is confidence in the basin plan and how it is implemented " end quote.....what he told Chris Brooks and Darcy Hare behind closed doors may have been different. But listening to that and reading that they have to get the states to agree to give Kelly the power to look into it in the first place.......I see it as the greatest handball of all time.....I hope I'm wrong, but somehow I highly doubt it....... @Steel , the 50 megs pr farm on offer.......did you realize it is ONLY 800 parcels of 50 megs. There is 1200 farm businesses in Murray irrigations area of operation alone. With 2400 farms. Even if only Murray irrigation customers were allowed to apply, that's an over subscription of 300%. Does this sound familiar.....
I agree. I don't know what they told Dozer, but he seemed very positive afterwards.
I saw on Twitter that SA is not happy and it is now National policy to remove the barrages. That would save some water.

Only takes 2 excavators.....start in the middle of each barrage and work your way back.....I'd have a pretty big hole made in them before lunch...

Until water and land are coupled back up, and green flows follow some historical weather patterns, i fear they have f*cked this for good.

Like Murray Goulburn...it will all disolve.

Probably right.....Lisa Neville on the Vic country hour today said no way in hell she would support any move to diminish the security on Vic water entitlement.... It wont happen. Plain and simple.

The only way now to save it is to break it, make the water worthless and only valuable to the land holder...almost impossible to do.

Of course the govt should do compulsory acquisition of water, and then rent to buy back to rhe farmer, or rent only. $60 a meg is more than enough.

Yep, was always taught the earth is a closed system. It has the same amount of water as it always did. Where it is held is the only variable.
You would assume 'people' would have worked out by now that there is no more resource on the planet Earth than when mankind started

So WHY oh why is everything based on 'growth' when every action has an equal and opposite reaction??

You'd think cows somehow made methane from scratch and all the oil we burn just fell back deep into the ground overnight, after spending some of my morning explaining to English-speaking people that cheap means cheap, I'm f***ing done

The figure usually quoted is 7 times. Seriously, in the Lee Valley, East Hyde sewage works discharges treated water from Luton (right at the head of the catchment) into the Lee. This is then added to from Harpenden and Mill Green sewage works. At Ware and Chingford Thames Water then draw off a portion of this water to run through their treatment works and supply London.

That is absolutely rediculous. Turning effluent into drinking water using polytunnels and hydroponics is not rocket science.

You're on to it, the financial system is at odds with cleaner environment. For the two groups i consult for, who were very pro Merkel, are now getting a wake up call as to how consumption works. Merkel is pumping the automotive industry, the economy in germany depends on it....hmmm...so more mining and oil required...more parts being shipped globally...The greens ignorance is going to bite them hard, they will be remebered as being as much as a villain as the corporate greed machine.

Slowly people will accept the problem is themselves...not coal, not the govt, not the corporate....themsleves.

An uncomfortable truth which riles most peoples blood, like we see on here from time time.

The 'Canal use' for water movement idea, looks good on paper..it could technically..move huge amounts of water from North to south. would balance thing out quite well i it worked.

Consumption is the killer, and I don't mean tb

Not hard to change habits but first we MUST take some responsibility
