JCB AgriPro DuelTech Variable transmission, anyone using one?

If so that has to be good as all reviews of the 4 speed show it to be bomb proof.
At the Royal Welsh I was informed the price premium for the dual tech was 3k over the 6 speed.A fairly large jump, may be worth it if the fuel savings are achievable.

I think, certainly at the moment, that it was worth the extra for the Dualtech.

Fuel wise, my instant feeling is it’s ruddy juicy! But, I’ve not done enough hours with it yet, or metered enough of the fuel unfortunately, I don’t have a meter on my bowser, so I will only be able to keep track of it if I’m filling in the yard every time.
It seemed to use a lot of fuel this week, compared to my last one, which I considered to be pretty fuel efficient.

But it might be a bit of a mind trick, as it unfortunately has a considerably smaller fuel tank then pre adblue models.

Time will tell, I will try to get some proper figures on fuel used per hour, sadly I never did it for the 6 speed, so I won’t have anything to compare it with.

V good honest sounding review so far considering its so new.
id deffo consider one next time if i ever get to that next time in telehandler buying.
currenly still using my 2005 Merlo & love the hydro trans for nearly all jobs its just right.
But current models are just awful now & that naff safety switch on the joystick na am not putting up with that.
541-70 would be more than enuff for me.

agree with that , we was dickering about a new one, dealer had one off the shelf, then the boy wanted the long warranty because of previous troubles.
dealer would not do that on stock one, insisted that it had to be speced at time of build, so a long wait
have run 530 70 super for a while and loved it, whilst we was wavering , a 541 70 came up for pocket money so now run 2.
never realised the 530 was so bad till we had both

This is the biggest problem with ad blue machines and vehicles now they have the same total capacity for fuel but it has to be split between diesel and ad blue so can give the impression it's thirstier

Adblue tank, adblue pump, and it’s got twin batteries now. All taking up space where fuel used to be!

Coming from another hydro machine, you will probably take to one like a duck to water! Powershift users will take longer to get used to it I think. I’m getting there and only have the odd brain fart moment now, it’s actually a joy to use if I’m honest.

If you feel inclined to change yours, then this could tick the boxes for you(y)

I every now & again jump onto a couple of JCBs with the powershift trans & as much as there ok,
its such a weird feeling having to hold them back on the brakes all the time.
Also why cant they go forwards in third & reverse? drops into 2nd everytime.
Surely thats no right?

I could have a demo of a dualtech one no bother but until my money tree can be adapted to grow plastic
iam kinda stuck

id say everytime side by side with a standard powershift JCB i could match it & poss beat it loading a wagon with grain & more so
if it was a long reverse to then turn around to tip into the wagon.
The merlo's weak point is on heavier jobs like loading muck & pulling a trailer & maintaining speed on a hill esp with a trailer on
so i can see why JCB has got the best of both worlds & thumbs up to them

We’ve put 2000 hours on one. Flipping brilliant machine. I had a heart attack the first few weeks with the amount of fuel fill ups until realising the capacity was much reduced from the previous machine. Always fancied a merlo for controllability stacking bales without being on the brakes. This is the best of both. And for once you can have your cake and eat it. A new suspended cab would be the mutts nuts.

Always been a Merlo man but reading this thread is making me consider JCB and this transmission . Do they do it on a smaller machine ? My merlo 32 6 is due to be swapped.

neighbour has a smaller jcb loadall thats hydro-static like a merlo. it go's very well.
runs on same mitas rubber as the merlos used to come with.
527-56 or 58 is its number
bought it new just over a year ago & says with a 5yr warranty is was cheaper than equ merlo
which he also hated its joystick anyhow

I do love the cab suspension on the bigger Merlo's.
Why no one else is there yet beats me because as for field work CS is superb.

New cab is rumoured for the jcb, so who knows, I’d be surprised if they do a new cab without suspension, but you never know....
Maybe it’s cost that prevents it?

Can’t see jcb doing it until they have the new cab factory up and running though

Manitoucab with airbags underneath so you don't need a step ladder to get in?!

We have ran JCB forklift since 1985 & they have been good machines up to a 15 plate 531-70, which was so much trouble JCB took it back & we got a 536-70 with the 145hp engine it is a good forklift in some ways , the steering mode lets it down as it is very slow to go from one mode to the next if mucking out cattle courts next to a wall, Paint work on it is very poor , great dealer & back up but not sure if we will have another one

Is the dualtec transmission proving reliable? I’d like to change my Manitou for something newer but used, so just asking.
