I just can’t work out what people are going to live on unless it’s beans on toast. Just popped into local spar after not being able to get milk at 10 this morning, nearly sold out of meat and milk again.

Perhaps they need to clear all their
left over vegan crap before they restock with meat.

This could be the case, lambs dear at the minute= less profit for supermarkets, empty shelves so forcing customers to buy other things with a bigger profit margin for them?
Surely there’s enough lamb in the country to keep the shelves full, or are the supermarkets just not filling the shelves?
Germany seemingly not taking our lamb now

It will help our price as long as sites here dont start walking out
That is the worry, could easily happen here, then we really do have a problem.Plenty of farmers will need to get stock away for cash flow reasons, its all very well saying don't sell hogs for £70-80 but that's not a complete disaster, unless you bought expensive store lambs but that is a high stakes game anyway. Lamb at more than £5/kg dwt is unsustainable right through the year IMO,makes it too expensive compared to other meats, even beef.

Trouble is fat lambs are far too cheap from August to Nov.

I talked to an auctioneer yesterday and it was his impression that the abattoirs had got together, said 'its now or never, this is our chance' and got the prices back ready for this years lambs starting to come on market through the spring and summer.
That was my initial impression, being 'on the spot' Monday. Either it's been a perfect storm of circumstances or a full-blown conspiracy. I asked one buyer about it but just got the usual riddles..

Wife just been to get some bearings off a bearing supplier and they are closing on Friday. I’ve just ordered some more that we might need. The knock on effects of this are unbelievable
