Winter wheat yields

One block could be as low as 6t/ha wheat. Other better block would probably be 8t.
About on par with the yields J. Lambkin used to report from FW Easton Lodge 20 yes ago. Similar land, similar yields; cannot escape yield potential of the land. Better red brash at home is always 2t ha better. Think it is going to just be a year to count ourselves fortunate to have a harvest at all, and to get out alive..
Eternal optimist next door is still planting unirrigated spuds. Big respect?.
Heres a stroll dowm memory lane a page from FW twenty years ago which i unearthed while clearing out the old milking parlour loft today .

I did. With premiums it all made that. Very profitable. And needed to be to cover 2012 which took three years to get over.
I didnt get the chance to recover from 2012 /13 as the landlord threw me out.
We had 22 months of dreadful weather starrting in august 11 till june 13
Barley and wheat both under 2 ton/ac
Only fed sheep in june twice, in 86 and 13

Feed bill was astronomic, but we didnt lose many
Those that didnt feed and let them die got compensation!!:poop:

Interesting that the rape was only £113 ton.
That actually affirms my belief that a chunk of our land is very similar, brutally honest long term yields wouldnt really be any better than those.

Drilling wheat on the 23rd August!! Wow!!
Bayer it was who were coming around again and again at that time telling us to drill in August if ever we wanted to catch up with everybody else's yields.

This was in spite of the fact that most our entry crops, beans, oats, SOSR etc. were normally harvested in September - as was a lot of our wheat for FSS.

Not to worry, they said, our latest rocket science seed dressing is not being made available to mobile dressers and in future you'll be buying all of your seed through the trade.
