SNP would be a big looser in proportional representation, not sure which election it was now, possibly the one that led to the con/lib coalition that UKIP got 3 times as many votes as the SNP yet the SNP ended up with about 50 MP’s.

And that's what's wrong with FPTP. UKIP should have had parliamentary representation, it would have shown them up for what they really represented and allowed their feet held to the fire, rather than always being allowed to play the back seat driver. The SNP are be over represented, but one assumes they don't actually want to be in Westminster in the first place.

Exactly. Farage et al would have been inside Parliament arguing their case and democracy would have been the better for it. Also the Conservative Party could then have conducted its civil war in a conclusive manner for the electorate and allowed self to split into a moderate centrist right party and the anti EU generally right wingers drift off into UKIP. Our FPTP system fails the politics of the nation.

You must be the only one then. As a UK citizen I can't vote in a French election, anymore than you could.
No I mustn't
Tell me if indeed it was the party that was voted for how come an MP can change party and still remain an MP
I think there are lots of folk that don't know what they are voting for

Assuming you generally vote Conservative. If you had a really good constituency Labour candidate and a very poor Tory leader, which way would you vote?
Many years ago we did have a very good constituency labour candidate and he won at the GE. Such is the scarcity of such people it only happened once in my lifetime.

interesting, I am aware the French allow all their citizens across the globe to vote, We also allow any these citizens French or any EU and commonwealthto vote in our election if they live here.

Unlike most other countries, the UK only allows it's citizens to vote for 15 years after leaving the UK in a general election. Unfortunately this rule doesn't seem to apply for taxation purposes. I didn't know that EU citizens can still vote in a UK general elections.

Not sure why you should want to vote in a country you haven't lived in for 15 years.

cos it is
you vote for the candidate, don't matter if you think your voting for a party your not because MP's can change party, see what happened before the last election
I take it from that comment that you personally only ever vote for the candidate, irrespective of the party they represent?
