yes agree , but its the whole supply chain conspiring, plenty of farmers have been selling at a loss over the decades , simply not on, considering animal welfare red tractor etc . Im well aware primary producers get hammered globally coffee / chocolate etc , but going forward APB and the rest need a wake up .

they were along way behind live the £5.10 week but personally i would say ahead since. Maby not for your extreme lamb as the grid doesn’t reward enough for shape. But folk selling hill lambs are smiling.
What’s wrong with Rare Breeds, if they are finished properly they are just as good as anything else if not better even

That’s the producers problem not the processors...
sent Jacob lambs just before Christmas and they did best price Iv had all year... rare breeds generally need time....

Bet them store lambs you bought will do a bit more than 0.3% ,you’ll maybe get them into £140 in April

Really, I would say it's very rare to hear of a farmer going bust. In the last 40 years can only think of two in this area. Plenty have a "change of policy" or scale back and diversify but very few actually go bankrupt leaving debts.

Taking it back on topic, I sold a 6year old shorthorn x cow on Wednesday and got the cheque today. 640kg made £800. Can’t think much will end up as prime steak though.
Cant argue with that.
