And sprayer operator certificates?
Sprayer operator certificates first came in around 30 years ago, initially for those under a certain age and for contractors, with grandfather rights for older operators. And sprayer operator certificates?
No, but I had to supply 3 numbers to RT as a contractor does my spraying, one was his operator number, one related to his sprayer test and I haven’t a clue what the third was foroperator certs nit an extra for RT then

NSTS number for the sprayer
NRoSO number for the operator
Relevant PA certificate numbers for the operator (operator certificates are a legal requirement)
Oot of interest, I was chatting with a neighbour yesterday and the topic moved to spraying and CPD requirements....
Is it a legal requirement to renew or update PA1, PA2 etc for personal farm usage?
Let @Guy Smith get into the job, guys. It doesn’t get fixed on day one. Judge actions, not words. I can’t blame Guy for not answering every post slagging him or his job off.
Guy says that Weetabix won't be happy with a RT lite scheme, well they'd better put their hand in their pocket, or the till, and pay more for it then so they're paying a premium that makes it worthwhile for the grower.
If Weetabix added their own requirements to the contract then they would harbour the cost of checks. As it is the farmer covers the cost through RT, win win for them.Weetabix have their own growers group of just 350 farms, only open to growers within 50 miles of Northampton.
It’s not representative of the whole UK cereal sector in any way.
Warburtons who have one too and specify in that you must buy their seed, and apply no liquid fert protein spray.
Both of these are now run by Frontier.
So why don’t Weetabix just add whatever they want to their contract and that can be that. It then becomes truly voluntary, and a free choice if you think the premium is worth the hassle.
AsI understand it, despite their similarities shown above, Warburtons use imported Canadian wheat in their bread. Therefore no Red Tractor logo can be used...? So they clearly don’t care for it on their “premium” product despite having a special UK Growers Group.
I hope Guy really gets his teeth into it.
Too many previous figureheads have promised a lot and delivered very little that farmers have actually seen. Groceries Code Adjudicator and Red Tape Tsar Richard MacDonald for two examples off the top of my head.
Are you lining yourself up for the next job!?Let @Guy Smith get into the job, guys. It doesn’t get fixed on day one. Judge actions, not words. I can’t blame Guy for not answering every post slagging him or his job off.
As a farmer I think Scottish Quality Cereals (Northern version of RT) is something that I could live without, and since being sold to Accoura it looks more than ever like it's a nit picking money making venture that has lost it's way.
But as a consumer, I don't want to feed my family with any of the shite I see produced on sub standard units, by 'farmers' that clearly couldn't care less about the quality of their produce or the environment. Buck up your ideas, or make way for someone else who can. Assurance is no different in any other profession, as pretty much every industry has to do CPD, I don't see why you lot think you're so special.
