Chafer Nuram 35+S £308 m3. Was £220 when we filled up last July but like many we didn't have enough storage for the years worth.

Have you done the sums to work out whether it is worth putting up more storage tanks? Lower tank throughput means higher tank rentals which hardly helps justify it unless you're buying them. Concrete pads for the tank bases are circa £1k each. Triple that for bunding then add the tank cost on top.

Based on a £1/cube/month price increment, I couldn't make it pay on rented tanks from Yara with all the bunding even with 50m3 tanks to dilute the pad cost. For the last two years the spring price wasn't quoted in June/July as Yara thought there would be Brexit tariffs & extra import duty on UAN, so what they did quote took the p*ss. My buying group advised me to hold off pricing spring tank fill & they were right to do so.

Apologies for going off topic here but this is relevant to liquid users with only a small % of total requirements in existing tank space.

We need to work out storage values over the last ten years to do a proper calculation as to wether it’s worth organising storage for bags or liquid.

Never had such a large difference in price to be honest. Like you say we haven't been able to buy June pay Jan etc for a couple of years now. What I should have done is used our other tank which I'd kept empty for the N25+S for the rape and found some other means of storing the 10m3 I needed for the rape. So next year I will be doing just that. Can then fit another tanker load on site which will mean I only need about 10m3 in spring. Will keep my eye open for another stainless tank.

Having a spring price fixed, has worked in my favour this year.
