Did you get it as hay in the end?

Only some of it. Did 80 bales as hay on Sunday, but contractor had been held up, so it was getting late and the moisture meter was telling us to stop.
The next morning we had unexpected rain. The middle of the field was always touch and go with the type and age of the ley. Couldn’t get it quite right to feel safe in a big stack, so wrapped it yesterday . It is lovely stuff though .

Nothing like an odd shower to give you patience. 
An odd shower won't hurt out but I was meaning folk often rush in and bale a day or even 2 days too soon even in settled weatherNothing like an odd shower to give you patience.

mind you a day or to late if its hot ,can be a pain with conventional bales , bales that are springy and strings not tight enough
Yes you can definitely get it too dry, its an art is making good hay

Yes cumbria why? Haven't made any too dry hay for a good few years!

usually july hay that gets like that ,(ps)raining hard here now

Wasn't born then. I'm not hay making now, won't be out worth cutting here til end of July, just commenting generally about hay making.
Don't have to go as far back as that, 2018 would have been easy to get it too dry

All in- 1300 small bales made, stacked and carted.
Started raining at 8pm as the final trailer left the field. Went to the pub for a beer after. Golden.

It's a great feeling when you worked late to get them under cover and it is pouring the next morning.
Especially if your neighbour didn't get his in
