Unfortunately I have seen a massive increase in the number of Braveheart nats that are convinced Mel Gibson was telling the truth. They have been encouraged by the snp with all these flag waving marches . The folk that actually have a brain and can think for themselves do see it for what it is , nothing more than jingoistic propaganda. It will in time come back to bite the snp where it hurts, when eventually the truth comes out, and it emerges that Scotland is as near as damn it bust
I agree with that , rather sad situation. Different areas different mentality’s .

Almost certainly in any normal times, which is why we will all have to stick together to weather this storm . I am no great unionist supporter, but I can see the reality of the situation. If for one minute I thought Scotland could afford to go on its own and the figures stacked up , I would be happy to cast adrift from Westminster.
Unfortunately, in Scotland we have the sad situation where half the country are working their arses off to allow the other half to sit around greeting about how bad things are

I can see why those living near the border dont want independence
The solution could be to move the border either to soutra hill or hadrians wall?

For me Scotland was a friendlier place when they had the Scottish office, the place was not so political , politics are never far from people’s minds all the time now it seems , back in them days most folk didn’t bother much. That Scottish parliament has been nothing but trouble since the beginning a shameful waste of bloody money just a talking
Shop for over paid toss pots .
Well it was the scottish office twonk michael forsyth who decided to implement the poll tax in scotland first, in breach of the treaty of union which stirred up the whole hornets nest

Proportional representation will always create a more 'robust' form of government. If we had a first past the post system in Scotland then we wouldnt be having this discussion. There would be a clear SNP majority.

The evidence suggests otherwise. PR gives small parties undue leverage. That is well understood. No System is perfect but PR is actually over representation of small parties. Do not the greens in Holyrood make demands to the SNP in return for their for their support. It leads to bizarre situations where the largest party by vote numbers can not have any power as a coalition of smaller parties stops it. So the majority get no representation.

As I said earlier I think a case could be made for independence but the SNP comes from Marxist left jingoistic position, and they will be very happy to see a lot of damage to country to achieve it. This is the idea of the "power struggle", the ends always justify the means regardless of any cost.

What crap
The snp is not left at all
They are looking after all the dukes and lords who have never had it so good

I didn't follow this thread after the first page because I knew what it would descend into. Happens all the time, especially on the internet. The internet is good in one respect but terrible in another. We need face to face communication rather than over the net discussion. Some of my friends are arch nats but face to face I get on fine with them, but over the net it would descend to hatred. Sadly the politicians are well aware of this and use it to stoke division and dissatisfaction. There seems to be a 50/50 polarisation of strong political views across the world and I don't think it ends well...
