He has commented that he never had averages over £100 for ewe lambs… says his buyer has gone all too pot nowadays. AND he bought prize pens most years!Dont read your grandads book too much before you set off to buy this year!

It was the same down here! Between the ages of 7&12 I bet we did a farm sale a month. All within 20 miles of home. It’s 5 years since I went too the last one!I seem to remember a farm sale on most Saturdays in the back end we went to buy cows usually then spent about three hours trying to get loaded up and out of the place
I wonder why people were so desperate to get out of the jobIt was the same down here! Between the ages of 7&12 I bet we did a farm sale a month. All within 20 miles of home. It’s 5 years since I went too the last one!
We were at Longtown a couple of years ago, Lee’s at Morley Hill were in with the ring with their first prize pen. I was in at £128 and just before the hammer dropped I got a smack right behind the knees and a hissed “That had better be you!” I wasn’t best pleased! He did apologise as soon as the gavel dropped though!Dont let him forget his stick then!
I remember back then because 98 was my first year farming, I bought next doors draft yows so I could turn them back to the fell to start my fell flock, they were £22, in 99 the same yows cost me £8. I sold my first mule gimmer lambs in 2000 for £30, don't want to go back to them days99 and 2000 must both have been bad years i think

A bad time to be starting, youve done well to get established....on the other hand, maybe a good time if we could buy stock ewes for £2 and £8 !I remember back then because 98 was my first year farming, I bought next doors draft yows so I could turn them back to the fell to start my fell flock, they were £22, in 99 the same yows cost me £8.
