l went through school at the change over, imperial/metric, so did about 95% imperial, as teachers weren't quite sure !
so, bags/acre, litres/cow, converted mentally back to gals, never been to much of a problem, until recently, i'm stepping back, and sons completely metric !
But it doesn't take either, to know fert price is in super drive. Cheapest l can remember buying N, was £60/tonne, that would have been very early 70's, and little bags, but, if you add in inflation, how different would that be to, todays price. There used to be a formula, price N - extra produce, last time l saw/used it, fert was mid 100's, response was 7:1, which was very cost effective.

Don’t care what units people use as long as they use proper ones and not ambiguous terms like “bags” or “units”. Come to think of it, we are an international website, so shouldn’t use gallons or pints either.

I will continue to use what I like thanks. Bags and units used to be the norm so are viewed as fine by many. You do what you want.

But it's me who's doing the calculation in the first place. I know what I mean by a bag. What the Hell has it to do with anyone else?

I do exactly the same as you with bags per acre, that’s the way I think and I certainly ain’t going to change it at 65.

Does bother me slightly that maybe one day I might say, without thinking, to a contractor’s young driver that I want two bags of Nitram per acre putting on that field.....

Oh I can see where the confusion might occur. I put my own fert on so no confusion. So far......

Good to see the bag police turned up in the end though. Shows they're always alert.

Nothing ambiguous about bags and units. That’s what they used to teach in the young farmers grassland competitions when I was doing them.
The American potato industry is still all measured in bags.
