This thread implies everybody talks in metric, nobody talks in imperial. Why’s that funny ?
YepHi.
Us olduns use bags per acre,
Simples??
Beer by the 1/2 litre, doesn’t have that certain ring by the bar…….
I will continue to use what I like thanks. Bags and units used to be the norm so are viewed as fine by many. You do what you want.Don’t care what units people use as long as they use proper ones and not ambiguous terms like “bags” or “units”. Come to think of it, we are an international website, so shouldn’t use gallons or pints either.

Why would I end up with that? You only have yourself to blame when you end up with 600kg/ac then.
Why would I end up with that?
But it's me who's doing the calculation in the first place. I know what I mean by a bag. What the Hell has it to do with anyone else?Maybe because it’s a job to get bags smaller than that now?
Nothing wrong kg/acre works for meSurely you can’t be taken seriously as an arable farmer in this day & age if working in acres.
For the avoidance of doubt the above is a joke.
I have to figure out what I want on in cwt/acre then calculate to kg/ha for settings. Then realise I’ve got it wrong and just shrug and say it’s close enough

Oh I can see where the confusion might occur. I put my own fert on so no confusion. So far......I do exactly the same as you with bags per acre, that’s the way I think and I certainly ain’t going to change it at 65.
Does bother me slightly that maybe one day I might say, without thinking, to a contractor’s young driver that I want two bags of Nitram per acre putting on that field.....
Nothing ambiguous about bags and units. That’s what they used to teach in the young farmers grassland competitions when I was doing them.Don’t care what units people use as long as they use proper ones and not ambiguous terms like “bags” or “units”. Of course they are ambiguous - a bag is 25kg, 600kg or 1t.Nothing ambiguous about bags and units.
