If it’s a high value crop then you can justify the part load charge. We grew lupins to feed our own stock so a small tonnage was fine. I sometimes deliver OSR by tractor and trailer. Last time the remnant went in a 3 ton trailer. I could hear the fingers drumming on the steering wheels in the queue of HGVs at the weighbridge…. then right on cue my starter motor jammed.I often wonder on small acreage of these niche crops , what you do if it’s not a lorry load or you’re left with 2-3 tons that won’t go on a lorry .
Just finished ours tonight, same as you just over half a ton to the acre-very disappointing especially as they looked good crops.Been cutting our spring linseed today. Doing just over half a ton an acre which is disappointing. How are others getting on? (Pub yields excluded)
Yeah.same here I reckon. It did. 950kgs to the acre last year (first year growing it) so quite a drop.Been cutting our spring linseed today. Doing just over half a ton an acre which is disappointing. How are others getting on? (Pub yields excluded)

, nope. You haven’t grown it in the same field again though have you?!
This is our first year growing it for 20 years so not the best person to reply but:Any tips for a novice, first time cutting it tomorrow, not expecting much yield as the rubbish has started to hide it in places
At least it will look brown, weeds always look better brown......View attachment 984157
Mines got various companion crops in with it, or should I say weeds, ranging from BG to Fat Hen. I’m wondering if the linseed will flow better or worse with the rubbish. Been sprayed off 3 weeks so the rubbish is dead now.
Shame really, was looking really good until 4 weeks ago
Not sure I dare take a picture of it today
Is yours a rotary lexion or walker?View attachment 984157

Purchased a walker purely to avoid wrapping issues. This soil can suffer with late Fat Hen appearance and not unusual to get hit with a scruffy crop, plus with chems going and timings getting harder with the weather I thought it was a better option for me as I'm on my own at harvest ( and can cut later with a walker )Is yours a rotary lexion or walker?
A friend has a big rotary and it wraps round somewhere and catches fire.
