If you ignore the Beltex running with the ewe lambs 🙄

First tup went out today, to the pure Texel ewes. It's coming round quick!

Seems a lot of faffing for just 2 ewes, but there's 3 ewe lambs this year (they're big enough so going to the Beltex this autumn), so I'll have 5 next year again all going to plan

That's a big field for 3 sheep! I could drop 5 pure ewes off on my way past in the morning to make it look better 🤣

I have a decent shearling off the tup I bought from John at the same time, although not as well grown as yours.

How would a Chindale do over the Swales I'm hoping to buy at Kendal tomorrow? And you thought Suffolks were the dark side! 🤣🤣

That tups a 2 shear. But I do have a shearling who's not far behind him. Almost had another from John at Ayr, hell of a stretchy boy and didn't make an awful lot really. Might be back up there next year to see what I can get

Jesus. Swales. Are you feeling ok?? 🤣
Good luck... I think!

If the competition wasn't so fierce I'd be tempted to start my own thread. Some one posted a few photos of Cheviot x Swales with decent looking lambs recently so I thought, why not .....

Aw go on! The forum needs someone else to take some flack!!

You'll can sit back with the popcorn watching everyone squabble over what tups you should use 🤣

just a teaser for you at the moment. 195 Swales arrived home this morning. Intended to take more photos but having spent the night in a lairage they weren't looking their best. I'll get a few better photos in a week or so once they've settled in and maybe start a thread.

PS I'm going to use the NCC park tups that I already have, squabble away if you want.

I'm only the manager, try anything with someone else's money!

My pure(ish) cheviots I have at the moment scan poorly and a lot of them aren't very maternal. Tried lleyns but the ones I got didn't suit our ground so trying something different.
Tried a batch of swales years ago, lesson learnt, they eat feed and hay all winter, what few survived to lamb all went wi lambs at foot, I thout mules could eat but them buggers would eat ta out of house un home. Had dalesbread for a year or two but couldn't keep un in, live well with little keep maybe why they did well there where always out 🤣.

Be some good lambs of the chevi(y), wi you keep some of the gimmers back?.
