A quick search and winter diesel is available between 15th November and 15th March.

Summer diesel good to -4 c and winter good to - 12 c

I filled up in mid September which will see me until the spring - may be a good idea to order a bottle of additive just in case , but I can't remember diesel waxing since the late 198I0's.

Had some wax up last January 🙁
I also had some wax up last winter. It was a real pain getting things going again. I have some additive on standby to put in the tank if I am still left with summer diesel over the winter. Once it starts to wax up there is little you can do.

Trying to eek out what I have left till November then fill up
Waxing up was a right pain to sort out…had to borrrow some just so I could load corn 🙁

Had summer wax up at 0 to -2 now always buy enough to get to November then switch to fresh winter
tried additive but it is impossible to mix it properly

have 3 storage tanks keep winter in one over winter
drain the combine of summer in November and clean the 2 inch pencil filter in the tank bottom which caused fuel filter warnings last year with new filters

I got some Smith and Allan additive on eBay. I used it last year but the weather improved afterwards so I don't know if it worked or not. Didn't have any problems though.

Local buying group offering gasoil at 51p per litre between July and October. Minimum order 10k litres.

What are peoples thoughts on direction price is going to go?

I wouldnt lock in at that, not even sure it will get that high.

Mental note: don’t take @Lincsman advice on fuel price futures. (No offence, I hope - just something that came to mind recently).

Not that my advice was much better…

Oil price futures look fairly stable through the year at $50, give or take. That’s surely a reasonable guide to where the industry thinks the price is going, isn’t it?

All I can say I have bought one lot over 51p this harvest... 4 weeks ago at 57p, it may be the last as all fallow is looking a definite prospect now.
