on my ancestry DNA results, I am 91% British (Irish, Welsh, Scottish & English in that order)
British as in indigenous? Even the anglo saxons could be immigrants if we go back far enough? Anyway i think this is drifting off topic, and im not a royalist. Frankly the royals telling us to be more environmentally friendly while they have private jets and Charles on tv saying how he runs his car on his waste wine and cheese is just laughable

Clarkson, Sunday Times Magazine, 17th October 2021:

And I am afraid it’s going to get much, much worse because Carrie Johnson and her bouncing Boris mouthpiece are about to turn their eco-guns on farming.
They’ve established that Britain’s farmers produce 10 per cent of the nation’s greenhouse gases and have decided that it would be better if these ruddy faced planet killers were ethnically cleansed from the countryside. Then it could all be sold to Russian oligarchs, who’ll plant a billion conifers, and eco-lunatics, who‘ll fill the resultant monoculture with wolves and bears”

The article is primarily about how this government is playing the highly dangerous game of running down our domestic food security in the chase for emission cuts without a thought to what may lie around the corner or as Mr Clarkson puts it

.. Carrie has made it plain that achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 is not just a government priority, it is the government priority”

But is there anyone in Westminster who can make them see sense? George Useless obviously can't.

Can we lobby for a peerage for Clarkson, so that he can sit in the Lords and pontificate. And where is Ian Botham???? He seems to have a bit of common sense.

And here we have it ...

From 2024, UK government is going to force car makers to produce an increasing percentage of electric cars for which they will receive credits (with plug-in grants phased out) with fines if they don’t meet their targets. They will also have a target for average carbon emissions so they cannot produce the remainder as gas guzzlers

I assume this can only apply to U.K. based manufacturers?

Announcement due this week

So how is the change over to electric cars going in Africa, India, China, South America, South East Asia and all the other countries outside Europe and North America.
If they do suddenly go green where are the rare earth elements, lithium copper etc going to come from? How are they going to power all this? Damming rivers for hydro already causing problems round the world.
Rampant consumerism has to end... especially in the richer counties. Chasing economic growth at all costs does not seem to be a very sustainable model. The obscene wealth inequalities need to be addressed.
Doubt anything will change much until the next, final, war.

Saw this morning on BBC1 a piece on Air New Zealand flying B787’s south to see the Aurora Australis, with about 1/3 of their capacity so everyone can sit close to a window, and this was portrayed as a wonderful thing! (New Zealand are hell bent on screwing their farmers, so they need a tourism industry after all!)

Jeff Bezos flying his massive penis into space just for sh1ts and giggles is listed on the BBC news pages in the “Good News” section!

Yet UK farmers producing grass fed meat, largely for the domestic market, are portrayed as ecological terrorists by the good old Beeb! The perverse hypocrisy is utterly mind blowing!🤬

I’m so pleased we have him telling it how it is. It’s what the country needs, regardless of farmers’ own positions.

Few things I have picked up recently relating to this hot air talking shop that goes by the name of UN COP26 ...

1) The budget for policing is an insane £250,000,000 - but likely to increase substantially

2) HM Queen and Joe Biden will be travelling from Edinburgh which is going to necessitate the M8 motorway being shut whilst they convoy down it. Queenie in possibly an electric Rolls Royce but Biden certainly in "The Beast" doing all of 3 miles per gallon

3) Protestors will not be allowed anywhere near to any of the leaders or venues despite the right to protest being a democratic freedom enjoyed in this country.

What a time to be alive

Closing roads for motorcades is the sort of behaviour one sees in potentate states. Suppose that is it now! Makes me loose interest in saving an odd litre of fuel here and there which is the most ordinary folk can do when the 'leaders' carry on. Yes, 'The Beast' will be flown in along with a cavalcade of armoured Surburbans with the CIA contingent. Reality - not really.

If COP26 is anything like COP21 it will be another farce where the UK agrees to most of what was put forward and our representative promptly returns and kills whatever was left of the solar and wind power initiatives which had been working quite successfully and already had a 10% reduction per 6 months factored in.
Many projects which had planning permission and grid connections in place and paid for got abandoned half completed thanks to Amber Rudd.

Just been told police brought in from other areas who can't go home at night will be paid 24hrs a day whether on duty or not

Summary to date then:

China ... no
Russia... no
Brazil ... no
South Africa .. no

Going to be a meaningful and far reaching summit
I still believe if the rest of the developed world continues to pump money into developing renewable tech that eventually we will leave the countries that rely on pumping dinosaur juice out of the ground, behind. Russia and the middle East has nothing left to offer the world but gas and oil. When we don't need them they are done for. It really isn't in their interest to participate but the writing is on the wall.
