I thought store lambs were serious money at Hexham today, even if you took out Errington No.1,and Argo. Even small things top end 70s.Good lambs £90-£100 easy.
Just looked in for half an hour cos was sick of looking at angus next door they looked very dear was some beltex at £150 plus good lambs but a good start

Apologies if its already been discussed on this thread but is there any chance of beef and lamb prices rising on the back of increased cereal and fertiliser prices.

Does it work finishing cattle on £200/t barley? Grazing animals on grass getting 2 units per day Nitrogen. Chucking on 100 units of N for a 6 week cut of silage?

The fertiliser price is currently driving the wheat price for the first time I can remember. Its normally fert going up on back of wheat prices.

Can the same happen with the meat industry? The pig and poultry guys must be getting hit hard.
It isn't just £200/t barley though.its everything else as well.
Gonna have to have a real hard think whether it stacks up to keep cattle.

Be none left by the time you have worked it out .Beef price is great and rising which is unbelievable and store cattle trade is mind blowing. If i didnt have sucklers i would be rearing calves or buying beef x dairy weanlings as they currently seem dirt cheap compared to store cattle.
