All things Dairy

Replace with a panel. When younger. Used to be for ever rebuilding walls. Not an issue now.
I would agree if it was my own farm or even a longer tenancy, but unfortunately I'm 20% of the way through, I'll just shove a piece of ply there and that'll get me through for another year or 2, I think the only reason this one has gone is because it was getting damp from a leaking roof sheet and is mdf not ply
It's definitely scary thinking that were 20% through here 😳 next stage this year is to start thinking about moving home, hopefully apply for planning later this year and then start laying the basics next year and then might be able to feel a bit more comfy 😂

I've found by buying early in bulk you save a lot of money.fpr instance, I ordered all the calf powder, dry cow rolls and calf cake I need for spring-summer in early December. If I waited until now I reckon I would be easily paying an extra £500.
But more importantly if I bought half a tonne of everything at a time and then ordered another pallet when the first was getting low I reckon I would be paying a lot more again. For instance my calf powder I've bought for £8,000 if I bought that in half a tonne at a time I reckon I would be paying an extra £1000 no problem by the time you pay for the extra deliveries and monthly price increases
Bought 200 bales of hay last spring which I knew I didn't need this year but by buying them it would get me out a sticky situation if fertiliser price became too expensive or there was a drought etc paid £15 each for them, I have a feeling next year fodder is going to be short in demand!
I ordered half an artic of fert back in August and paid £275/t for it whereas now you're talking £800/t
So all those little £100 here and there add up to meaning I can buy extra when I need to
Just got to be careful with cash flow but a generous overdraft helps smooth that out.
All very well buying in bulk but you need a safe place to store it all. How much did you loose when the cows escaped not long ago?

You can take a panel with you, plus it’s allowable against tax.

You sound like you can’t wait to get out the place.
Sort of, bit fed up with it mainly because I hate not being able to just do things because it's either not economically viable because we might not be here in 5 years or because the landlord doesn't want it done and so on...

The main thing is I want to be prepared to go at a split seconds notice because although it's none of my business my landlords are in there 80's so I've just got to bare that in mind

You’ll be going some way as a dairy farmer to do everything you want that’s economically viable.

Can he though as his animals damaged it and it will be a dilapidation.

Couldn't call that fair wear and tear?
But then I could claim that the board was already rotten from the roof leaking when I moved in.. siwngs and roundabouts but I wouldn't want to leave it without something there for the next tenant anyway

It is but then landlord could say that you should have informed him before you took it on the roof leaked.

Proof is much easier now with digital photographs

Agent takes 100's before a new tenant moves in to the let property for proof.

In which case I'm all covered as I informed them of leaky rooves within my first week there, won't be an issue anyway though as I'll just shove a bit of ply there and some nails
