The last one told me I should have planned for this to happen, I responded it's nearly impossible to plan for it, she flew off the handle and told me I'm being an idiot basically. Happened to have a heifer bulling that day, I turned to her and said so 1001 is bulling today she's from one of my best cows, do I ai her or not bother because she's going to go down with tb at the next test, after all I need to plan?

She also backed off then
I've planned as was fed up with buying cows that don't always last.

Good run of heifers and 🙄

It's too unpredictable to be able to plan, if you knew it would take 20% you could atleast plan to buy/breed 20% extra but it's when it only takes 1% and then you're overstocked massively. Or you're clear and then go under restrictions due to your neighbour or a tracer test etc but then you can't sell the group of 50 stores you need to make way for calving and then you have no where to put the calves from calving etc etc

It's the only reason I would consider moving within 50 miles of Nicole sturgeon for

Given cull cow values it gives you choices.

Haven't had that luxury last few years.

Feel like we have had a @Jdunn55 day today gate wasn’t latched properly last evening so cows decided to take a jog in the garden 🤦‍♀️ Looks even worse with todays heavy rain.

give most 'officials' a posh job title, and it seems to make them think they are better than us,
todays RT spent an hour, filling out his forms, with no imput from us !
l have no problem with assurance, but it should be about animal welfare, and safe production of food. 1 bonus, he couldn't find anything wrong with our NVZ/ dung storage etc.
The only pleasing factor, as with all the inspections we have had, our record keeping, has always 'passed' perusal, even EA couldn't argue that point. lts just f-ing hassle. parlour test, booked for pre xmas, delayed, didn't like that, even though the letter, rebooking it, for this coming monday, came yesterday, ahggggggggg

Nice when someone else makes a mistake for once! Was wondering where my heifer cake had got to (meant to be delivered yesterday) calves didn't get fed on Thursday as I ran out and didn't have time to steal a few bags from dad. Anyway got back yesterday from dad's to find no cake and some very hungry calves, scurried a bag out the parlour (don't like doing it because of the calcium content but been told the odd bag should be fine), anyway went to dads today and asked to grab some cake, he was complaining that hes running low so wanted to check his bin first, full to the brim with my heifer cake!

Mole valley are in the process of streamlining accounts and my three counties account has been lumped in with dad's and our mole valley accountants  good job my 10t of dairy cake didnt end up there :ROFLMAO:

Sorry to Say but from a decade ago MVF are rubbish. And now mainly focused on the general public.
They should really be called MVNF Molevalley Nonfarmers.

I agree, three counties on the other hand I have found excellent up until the past 2 months when there has been nothing but chaos caused by Mole valley insisting on "streamlining" the accounting side of things. Has meant delay, after delay, after delay. Luckily my feed rep and his boss are nothing short of brilliant so I'm not too worried. The cake at dads will be at dad's price not mine (he's on a cheaper cake) and I've got a pickup full of bags arriving free of charge in the morning so no complaints from me.

Bugger all of my heifer calves go on the 18 dairy cake from about 50 days. It's the easiest bulk solution to use. Gives them a quality cake that can be fed a little less of. I could buy a separate bin but the rearerr cake isn't that much cheaper so would take years to payback.
They all look very well.

We use what ever won’t fit in the parlour bin through the season. It gets blown into a second bin. Seems to work ok.
we do use a dedicated coci cake at grass though.
