How does rt know it’s a disapointment to farmers?

have any farmers quoted that as much?

farmers are more likely to be disapointed about the sheer incompetence of red tractor

quite obviously another rt spin on the truth
Imagine most farmers were quite pleased. Especially the AHDB levy payers who have chosen to not be in the RT scheme - the ones who were having their levy cash used in a way which worked against them by cutting off their markets.

Just had a neighbour call in for a coffee and he's not a happy bunny. His RT inspection was due today and he'd spent last week getting everything ready only for it to be cancelled with no proper explanation or a commitment to another date.

Why so, it needed to be done anyway, if he is to remain RT assured. If he's spent the last week falsifying updating records in readiness, it will presumably still be in order when it does come round?

Interestingly I had a ‘technical update’ from good old RT this morning giving ‘extra clarification’ about the fact that they require ALL farms to have a written health and safety policy.

Knowing how keen RT are to listen to their members views, I fired back a message doubting that their consultations with farmers would have resulted in a policy that goes well above and beyond what is required by HSE.

My message was undeliverable to that email address- apparently [email protected]
is strictly for OUTGOING communications. Says a lot about RT, really.

More mission creep,

im not doing one as no staff.

will argue it on the day with rt inspector and if they deem my farm unsafe I will request they leave for there own safety.

Fully agree!

All these extra hoops to jump through gain absolutely nothing, but unfortunately RT have the whip hand! No health and safety statement = no pathetic stickers = no license to sell our grain.

The quicker RT self - destruct the better.......

Have inspection on Friday , better get busy.
Had the e-mail about H & S as well this morning, don't disagree that its not important, but nothing to do with them , mission creep as said above.
I know the guy doing it as I presume all the others have left as we should have been done 3 months ago, will ask politely how its all going.

It says ALL FARMS, so according to RT all RT farms need one whether they’re one man bands or employ dozens.
So is the inspector going to sit down read and abide by your Elf and safety policy before stepping onto the farm?

If not surely there in breach of it and need reporting for unsafe working practices?

Technically I suppose yes.

Although I’m sure your inspector will appreciate that you’re a very busy person, so you’ll have to keep your H&S induction down to a bare 3 or 4 hours, plus the written test to check their understanding of the main issues.

Probably best to present this as an online presentation, ideally on a glitchy platform that keeps throwing you back to roll a 6 to start, and also in an area with patchy internet reception, so that your inspector gains a better insight into your frustration and opinions on spending hours and days sat at a desk filling out pointless (but VERY important!!) paperwork when you should be out actually working.

Also you should hide some essential information in a file that’s really hard to find. Also you should take some forms that were relatively straightforward last year and make them really complicated to fill out this year (*cough vet performance forms cough*)

Oh, and they shouldn’t get paid for those hours; in fact they should pay you a few hundred pounds for providing the service.

Sarcastic? Moi?

Entirely reasonable point of view imo
