Trelles need to be run hard, will last a long time if run hard and i dare say may outlast most for road work
Yea but surely the harder they are run, the less flex they have so an awful ride and the harder they are run the less actual rubber on the ground. So not only do you have a rough ride you also have less braking/traction.

Not really that difficult we run a fleet of 10 tractors and the drivers are all top operators I’ve had issues with Trelleborg tyres in the past so I wasn’t keen on having them again but unfortunately the new tractor we bought was a stock machine that was already on trelleborgs so didn’t really have a choice but to give us piece of mind we asked trelleborg to come out and weigh the tractor with implement on so we could find out we’re we shou Be running them we then set them even higher than recommended to try and avoid any problems but surprise surprise after 1400 they failed it’s not good enough and then it took them 4 and a half months to finally come to the table and say there is nothing they can do due to been run under inflated even though they actually told us they could be run lower than we did and then to be told that basically it’s Irrelevant what we were told and the advised pressures as basically there are to many other factors. most of our tractors are on Michelin tyres and we just don’t get any problems at all so I don’t see how we are doing something wrong if we had other issues then maybe or perhaps Trelleborg should have made time to come and see us and explain there side of things but as already stated it took 4 and a half months to get the disappointing answer that we got and I feel I only got that after constantly chasing them in my opinion it’s not good enough
One question, they come out an suggest x pressure , you then run them higher at y pressure? Why do you disagree ? You have ignored their advice so have zero come back. I’m not saying this to be annoying. Just that you have ignored their advice ( for the correct reasons in your view ) but …

Interesting that when I last up tractor tyres the guy selling them said that Trelleborgs were the best tractor tyre on the market at the moment and they were in higher demand than Michelin now

Not only that but running them hard do you get even wear across the tyre width?

FARMING FRIENDS PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AND CONSIDER MAKE SURE WHEN BUYING TYRES YOU CONSIDER THE BACK UP YOU WANT WHEN SPENDING THOUSANDS OF POUNDS ON A SET OF TYRES!!!
Had a terrible experience with these tyres and feel really let down by Trelleborg there backup and support is disgraceful after having a trelleborg representative come out and weigh the tractor and implement when new and tell us we’re to set the pressures and we have always run them higher to be told that after only 1400 hours that they have failed that they were run at to low a pressure after speaking with Trelleborg and they are not prepared to help out in any way our previous tractor doing the exact same job clocked up 4000 hours plus obviously on a different brand of tyre and never ever let us down I also have been in contact with Trelleborg trying to see what they were prepared to do after being told nothing because apparently they have been run at to low a pressure so I asked why they had told us to run the pressure were they did to basically be told that what ever we were told to run them doesn’t matter I think this is terrible of a manufacturer!!! Also I would like to say that it took them 4 and a half months to come back to me with there answer and I would think if I hadn’t constantly been ringing them they still wouldn’t have got back to me. please feel free to share this as tyres are getting so expensive now people can’t afford to just change a £10000 plus set of tyres at less than half way through there life
Thanks for the warning , will make sure i never order them.

Talking to a John Deere dealer. He said the factory were sending tractors out on trellys as there was a shortage of preferred brand tyres. He was worried how thing would work out as they were getting lots of problems at low hours with no help from trelleborg.

If that were the case and trelly had a large stock I wonder how old some of the tyres fitted to new tractors are?

I won’t have them again. Had them fail similiar to the op.
I my case though no argument about pressure they told me I’d staked it with something.
Multiple tyre guys have looked at it and said it is a tyre failure plain and simple. Was very disappointed at the time. First one was replaced with Trelleborg. Next one was a Michelin. First Trelleborg showing signs of early failure already.
Will see how the Michelin fare

Because I thought that was a safer option as I had no faith in the product to start with it they would have been ok at there recommended pressure then they definitely should have been ok running them slightly higher it wouldn’t have made any difference if I’d run at there pressure regarding come back as they are still saying that in there opinion they have been run to soft

Maybe he has sh*t loads of them in stock to shift onto unsuspecting customers !!
Michelin’s have a long lead time so it’s unsurprising that Trellies are outselling them ??

I had a front failure torn by a flint at 2500hrs a major repair on a rear from another flint at 3000hr and when the other rear tore the sidewall beyond repair 200 hours later they were swapped out as they were 70% worn
Michelin’s on the other tractor went to 4500hrs and had more abuse as that one did contract ploughing

Well, well, i dont know if the importers, sellers of trelleborg tyres into the UK are aware of this forum, but the comments on their tyres, and the amount of people who view this thread, it dosnt look to good all round?

They are quite aware of this forum. I posted about my tyres when it happened a few years ago. Somehow the head of Trelleborg Australia got my number and rang the next day.

still told me they weren’t at fault mind

These were originally Pirelli TM before taken over, I had a set of them and run quite hard, but decided to lower pressure a little (18psi) for some ploughing, a week later a split showed up while grain carting. Rang dealer and told them the serial number and date, a new tyre was sent the next day and a few weeks later got a partial refund as the damaged tyre had 80% tread left on it.
I still have the tractor with them on and they are still ok... but kept at fairly hard pressures, and are lasting well considering.

@Richard Smyth . Did you get any joy/help as a result of his phone call? Or did he just have a hissy fit at you for publicly expressing your displeasure?
No assistance at all. Continually argued the tyre had been staked. The 8 other internal cracks were irrelevant. I lost all faith in Trelleborg tyres after that. Unfortunately I just bought a secondhand sprayer yesterday with Trelleborg on it. Shall see how they last.

still have no idea how he got my number
