Re #2891 also if you read the wiki page will appreciate the fathers of the Socialist Republic of SOuth Yorkshire were foresighted to actually sign a peace deal with Donetsk in Ukraine. As I say, canny/

My honest opinion, for what it worth as a mere farmer with no military training:

We need to avoid backing this nasty little rat too quickly into a corner because that is when he will panic and.........

Somehow just keep allowing him a bit more leeway, bit by bit over the coming days and weeks; until such time as either his own people oust him or bump him off: or allied special forces/assassins have time to formulate a detailed plan to somehow get to him.

He’s going to be bogged down in Ukraine for some time now, even if he takes the main cities he will be facing prolonged guerrilla warfare and maybe won’t have the conventional forces to think of expanding further west just yet.

This is not appeasement, it is ‘humouring him’ in the interim just until he can be wiped out one way or another. Whether my reasoning holds water or not, I firmly believe that upping the stakes too rapidly now could easily lead to him turning to far more dangerous and drastic military action, from which there may be no way back.

Ugh, confirmed as the Tin Man of Europe, absolutely no heart. The fighting Irish my hole. I'm disgusted.

Chatting with my own family over there, and looking at social media and voxpops, I don't believe that at all reflects the feelings of the general public in the ROI.

But take heart, the German public reaction has made their government take unprecedented steps; if enough Irishmen make their feelings felt, your gov't can be made to act appropriately too. (y)

As an ROI citizen I’m sorry to say that we have a political system currently dominated by left leaning politicians who are afraid to do/say anything that could be deemed as non PC.

Id be delighted to have my taxes going into a European defence fund.
