Perhaps it's time we updated our price list to Dale Farm, Glanbia, Lakeland, Aurivo et al?!
I know that we all love to poke fun at the processors, but surely it's the retailers that are the real villains, with the continued use of dairy as a loss leader.
We're just at the bottom of the pile, gathering the scraps that they drop for us. And we make it easy for them by keeping the market flooded. With inputs getting on the scary side, we'll see how flooded it is next year.

Probably an element of truth in this statement, however it could be asked why our processors (the link between us and the almighty retailers) aren't trying harder in a steeply increasing market, to get us more for our product?

Perhaps the taps being turned off by high fertiliser prices ect will help?

I was talking to a person lately who works on orders amongst other things for a local food service business supplying both catering and retail. She was complaining about the 'horrendous' price hike in a purchased bulk dairy product between November and February deliveries. I'm talking 60%.

I'll take 60% increase on my base as of tomorrow morning, 1st March, Mr Hanley for my March milk. If you want to add 30% to my March cheque for FebruDairy milk I'll not fall out with you!

Let's not get all riled up about some fat cat "getting the cream" the processors input costs will have been soaring lately. Whereas ours ..... now hang on there, at least dick turpin wore a mask!
