Not like you to be producing ‘out of spec’ lambs 😜

I wish I hadn't. They've done well, and been so busy lambing I haven't had a chance to draw them until yesterday afternoon. They were all sub-30kg in December and only been grazing since.

Just had price email. Averaged £128 for 54 lambs at 50kg (255p/kg)! :( Even worse, one pen of 29 were mostly Beltex X.

You don’t need to explain to us why you secretly were hoping 50 kilo hoggs would be £200 in April 😜

but that price today sounds crap for your quality

I said back in the Autumn that heavy hoggs would be overdone and not as good as last year, and held fewer back myself (jut the smallies) Still a good enough do though generally imo, and better so far, than I expected trade to be.

Well it’s better than it’s been that’s the main thing
Remember sheep can go down as well as up
What they are making now needs to be the lowest over the next few months and even then current prices are not on fire in the real world like some auctioneers think they are!!

If these prices are not the lowest over the next few months then i would not want to be selling breeders come July/August etc.
