The war in Ukraine...

All the death, destruction and economic cost of this war is totally down to one man and can only be stopped by him or his sudden demise.
Might be only one scapegoat but personally dont believe its just the work of one person. I believe the corruption at the top is more a mafia style hence the rise in the wave of family "suicides" taking place in powerful Russian households. Instead of drugs it is the energy addiction of the west which is being exploited and until the West can be weaned off this Russian energy addiction there is money to be made and unfortunately that means the war will continue.

Exactly, how can ALL Russians and the whole world be afraid of ONE man , USA spending 40 billion alone on this war .
World economies suffering , possible food supply disruption , the gas issue.
The death and destruction in Ukraine.
ONE MAN.
Appeasing a bully and a thug .
This animal and that's a gross insult to animals, will only understand one thing .
FORCE..
Ukraine isn't in NATO but the whole world can see that NATO are flooding Ukraine with weaponry, the flight tracking websites show , UK USA transports, surveillance planes are in the air EVERY day .
NATO should back this up and put a stop to putin NOW. .
He dosnt respect sovereign boundary , or any international rules.
The gloves should be off , rule book. What rule book .
Fight fire with fire .
The ukrainian nation deserve the utmost respect and our HELP.

The UK has signed a "Security Declaration" with Sweden. Basically promising assistance if the Swedes are attack. The Defence Secretary made similar comments yesterday to both Sweden and Finland.

If Sweden & Finland are joining NATO then isn't their defence something NATO should guarantee in the interim period, why should it be the UK that's signing this or is it just for Johnson's political benefit?

The United Kingdom
Sweden’s cooperation with the UK is of particular importance to security in the Baltic Sea region. Sweden and the UK have significant defence equipment cooperation and, in 2019, the countries signed a memorandum of understanding on Future Combat Air Systems Cooperation (FCASC). Exercises and training as well as research and development are other areas in which there is close cooperation. Bilateral agreements between the UK and Sweden are not affected by the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

Sweden has a long-term interest in continued close cooperation between the EU and the UK in the area of security and defence policy, regardless of whether the UK is a member of the EU or not. Swedish-British cooperation should also be seen as an important support function in the transatlantic link.

From a Swedish Gov website.

It might be, but the evidence is thin. We know Putin has seriously reduced the number of confidants he trusts to only 3 or 4 over the last 18 months and also now has little trust in the FSB or the military, all pointing to a bunker mentality rather than a crime syndicate. Which probably would be a preferable option as we could assume Putin's demise would be very rapid at the hands of the Russian Mafia.

Then let's hope to goodness that whoever eventually replaces him with all those nukes to play with doesn't want to make a name for himself by restoring Russian pride?
Plenty on here would happily press the button over the last couple of months!

Sadly gone quiet about fires in russia

Also ruskie generals seem to be keeping out of harms way.

I hope someone comes along to correct me.
Reports from Russian media of the reason for no fly-past at Putin's parade on Monday, were that it was cancelled because of bad weather - despite blue skies all round and clearly visible in its own footage...

Reports from elsewhere are that there was, of all things, a fire at Perm airbase, that being home to the Mig31s that were intended to escort the Russian equivalent of Airforce One during the fly-past.

Take your pick as to which is the more plausible...
